A simple small seconds 3 hander

Post by Jack F »

If CW was to produce a small seconds watch, what would you want to see?

Case size
Lug width
Dial color
Sub seconds dial color
Location of sub seconds register
Lumed hands?
Lumed indices? Some or all?

It’s always interesting to see what folks dream up in their mind’s eye. Thanks!

Alright - inspired by the recent Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra black dial

Case size: 38mm, steel
Lug width: I dunno, 18?
Dial color: Black
Sub seconds dial color: Black sunray brushed
Location of sub seconds register: 6
Dauphine hands - no lume
applied indices
Indices and hands, silver

Case size
I don’t want any more round cases. I want either rectangular (like the Tank or Reverso) or tonneau (Franck Müller or VC Malte). Max size around 34-35 mm across, 42 mm L2L, case height under 9 mm. Rose gold. Hand wound.

Lug width
20 or 22 mm

Dial color
Sub seconds dial color
Black

Location of sub seconds register
6:00

Lumed hands?
Lumed indices? Some or all?
Absolutely not. RG dauphine, leaf or sword hands. Applied RG bâton indices possibly with Romans at III, VI, IX, XII

I think the smaller C65 case would be an ideal start for me:
38 mm ø
20 mm strap
45 mm lug span
Box crystal

No partly occluded numerals from the small seconds dial. :)

Very interesting to see what direction folks would go with this. Came across this one and thought it was quite nice.

Do it with the Twelve.

40mm - remove date window and have the small seconds there.

36mm - should be easier without a date window.

I would be happy with something like this Tribus. They based all their watches on the same 41mm case and dial design, sometimes repurposing the 6 o'clock subdial area.

I posted this in today's Non CW of the day, but I'd happily see this sort of thing.
