I heard the cleaning routine to "restore" them is easy but can be time consuming. I may also have issues with bronze on skin even with the stainless caseback. Allergies and allergic reactions run strong in my family (not something I am proud of or happy about) so it may not be worth the risk.
FWIW, I thought about possible skin irritation with the bronze as I have sensitivity, but I took the chance anyway, and I have not had any reaction to it. This watch has a stainless/clear caseback and for the price and return policy, I took a chance on it and it worked out.

As far as patina, I am good with it doing its thing. Like an old brass golf putter, it adds character and gives a vintage look to it.

Have fun with the new Explorer II Polar!

I am thinking maybe the black Vacona® Leather strap meant for the C1 Moonglow might be a good fit for the Sealander Dagger/Silver dial watch. Go from the stock grey leather to upgraded black leather and from the stock pin buckle to a nicer deployant clasp.

I think the Cranwell looks great and different to your other watches.

This seems like a good place to ask - how many of you have had to explain to your better half that you have bought your second or third watch ?

Do you see what I mean ? My wife is having a little trouble. In fact, err, my wife is unaware I’ve bought a 3rd watch which is incidentally arriving by DHL from NYC on Monday. Err she’s aware of watch 2 but that £140 Seiko hasn’t arrived from Singapore yet. Surely at least half of you must have experienced some bewilderment/frustration/friction??

I’m considering an attempt to switch and to pass off the Hamilton for the Seiko and hiding that in the wardrobe for 6 months!!

I can imagine by watch 9 this gets easier but any advice or useful anecdotes about how you navigated this issue would be appreciated.

@LambethCW I’m too big of a fool myself to give anyone useful watch or marital advice, so please only take this as a comment on my own watch collection and 25+ year marriage. In my case, no watch is worth a secret or lie with my wife. There’s enough hard sh*t to get through in life without introducing little mistrusts. I’d much prefer the eye rolls and what-the-hecks to a secret… and, no, so far those reactions keep coming way past the 3rd or 9th watch. But, even if she’s bemused, she likes that I get a kick out of stuff. Again, that’s just me/us as the only example I know. Everyone and every marriage is different, and I definitely get that sometimes the path of least resistance is the best path for all concerned.

Back to watches… @nycWATCHnerd I’d be very interested in your review of the black Vacona Leather strap if you go that direction. I’m considering it for my Sealander GMT (39mm Hunter Green).

We are a few weeks away from our 24th weeding anniversary, known each other for 34 years, and put communication above all else. It's not that I do not get the occasional eye roll when a new watch shows up but it is rarely a surprise. I have a few hobbies, collections, and interests but I also do not drink, chase women (aka cheat on her), or gamble so collecting watches seems mundane in terms of how one can spend money.

She likes very expensive sweaters, purses, and shoes so I am supportive of that. Again, it is about communication and we have never spent so much that it put us into debt. Also, there is only so much stuff two people can have in a 1 bedroom NYC apartment.

Thankfully neither of plays golf so that saves a great deal of money we can spend on other interests like watches and purses.

I know you said you do not give out marriage advice but I think your statement is really important.

I'll let you know about the strap. I want to take advantage of the 3 for 2 so I am trying to figure out what is the third: Bader (or Consort) bracelet, Vacona leather, and then...

Roger that @nycWATCHnerd and happy almost anniversary!

I’m in the same 3 for 2 quandary. I’d really like a darker brown leather in 20mm than the currently available Camel option. I have an incoming C63 Valour with the Bader bracelet, which I think can do double duty on the Sealander. I haven’t double checked, but it would just be a bonus not a decision point on the Valour purchase since I generally prefer a strap and change them fairly frequently. I’ll find out soon enough!
