A nice story of kindness
I’d like to report a nice story. I have had a green C3 MKII on the WTB section since February 2022. I thought I would never get one. Recently (a couple of months ago) there was a charcoal one in the sales section, but the seller’s inbox was not accepting messages. I tried and tried and in the end I contacted Kip who fixed it. At that point someone else nipped in in front of me and took it. I was gutted (having done all the hard work!) but didn’t begrudge the forum member and I knew it had gone to a really good home. Perhaps my day would come. And anyway I really really wanted the green one!
Fast forward to last week and a forum member contacted me about a green one he had for sale. He said it wasn’t pristine (but in very good condition) and asked if I was interested. I was for sure! We discussed prices. The watch needed a battery and UK delivery / customs charges etc really are a nightmare. But I really wanted the watch. We had a couple of very nice exchanges about our watch journeys and seemed to be on the same page. In the end he told me I could have this “not working’ watch (and he would declare it as exactly that) for £10 purchase price plus the priority shipping- on the condition that I would (with the money saved) take a friend or family member to dinner and post a photo of the watch on the forum. I could not believe it and have been so excited for nearly a week. The watch arrived yesterday and I am absolutely thrilled by it – it is a stunning, really stunning green and fits me perfectly. I had already bought a new battery in anticipation of the arrival and immediately took the watch to my AD, who put my new battery in for free (I was afraid to do it in case I dropped a tiny screw!). I’ll never sell this watch. I love it and I will wear it with pride and every time I look at it I will remember that there are still some good people left in the world. I hope this story of kindness sits well with our fellow forumites on here.
So, thank you so, so much Zane Webb, aka “zeedubbya”, and it was worth the 16 month wait – I will always remember your kindness. Here is a photo of the watch and me and my son tonight (with watch on show in photo) at our favourite Turkish restaurant! And some photos of my new watch in the office today. A really lovely piece.
Best

You don’t know how much I needed to hear a story like this at this particular moment! Thank you so much for sharing and renewing my faith. And thank you @zeedubbya for embodying everything I think this forum represents. Just wonderful all around.

Great story, which was very pleasing to hear. And much kudos to Zane for his generosity and kindness.
Enjoy the watch, Glenn. It looks great.

A great exchange to share. Glad that your long wait yielded success and through such generosity. Definitely a feel good story.

A great read first thing this morning.
A very kind action from @zeedubbya and an excellent story. It's good to pass kindness onwards.

That's a really lovely story in a world that often feels full of bad events. It has put a smile on my face and given me faith in mankind. My morning coffee is going to taste that much better this morning. Enjoy the watch it's lovely.

Thanks to ProfGlenn for posting this story and to @zeedubbya for the kindness. It serves as a subtle reminder of the type of members we have here.
Well done to both.
