Re: A new Tropical Trident tomorrow?
I like the look of the two Atoll watches. Some of the strap combinations look very nice. Sadly Christopher Ward won't be getting any money from me this time. The two C60 Atoll watches are only 40mm. If the Shark White had been 42mm then CW would have had my order for a bracelet version with a spare white rubber strap already. At 40mm my bank account is safe. I know I count as a dinosaur liking watches larger than 40mm and the broader market is shrinking, well watches are getting smaller anyway...

The cynic in me suspects it’s more likely a stock shifting exercise to use up a surplus of 40mm C60-600 cases and black sapphire bezel inserts. The C60-300 was clearly a success, probably to the detriment of C60-600 sales, and the 40mm C60’s are just about the only non-special models that are still available from that range.

Not to mention the C60 MK4 is around the corner.timor54 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 5:51 pmThe cynic in me suspects it’s more likely a stock shifting exercise to use up a surplus of 40mm C60-600 cases and black sapphire bezel inserts. The C60 300 was definitely a success. Reliable sources tell me that it pretty much killed the C60 600 and caused a serious rethink regarding the Trident Mk 4. I don't know if the rethink/refocus will delay the Trident Mk 4 but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. With the success of "the Twelve", Bel Canto and the C600 - 300 CW can probably delay the Trident Mk 4 without too much trouble.

Re: A new Tropical Trident tomorrow?
I am pretty sure the rethink was a while ago and they delayed it to 2024 (we are already about half way through 2023!). I can't remember where I heard this but it was directly from CW either in the Loupe or a chat. I think that there was some thought in doing a sort of MK3.5 600 along with the 300 and that was totally scrapped (which is probably good as it wasn't needed).albionphoto wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 6:26 pm ^^^Timor54 and rkovars

The 300 launched the C60 forward and left the 600 designs looking dated I think. It does not surprise me that they are languishing at the moment.
Next year is 20 years since the launch of CW so that would be the perfect time for a big update to their most popular diver.
EDIT: I think the question was asked at the Dune release. Will and Mike commented that it was pushed to 2024 and that there would be no 3.5. I am going off memory here so it could be foggy!

Smaller watches is the trend. Unfortunately it will make my 22mm strap collection useless

@WalterSMonaco I don't think you will see 42 mm disappear. At least not for divers! No one would call 42 mm big. Now 44s on the other hand will be harder to find. Your 22 mm straps are safe!

Interesting views. Thanks to everyone for the last couple of pages of posts.
Personally I think 300m WR is generally sufficient. My only 600m is in bronze, and although it's not unwearably thick by any means, the loss of a couple of mm to the 300, together with the display case back and other features must make it hard for a landlubber to need the 600m WR. I can see why they might decide to rethink the range as a result.

Re: A new Tropical Trident tomorrow?
The 600 proportions work best at 42. Okay at 40 and feel thick at 38. I could definitely see them limiting the sizes on offer for a new 600. Put the watch where the proportions work the best. There is a reason the modern Sea-Dwellers are 43-44.JAFO wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 8:59 pm Interesting views. Thanks to everyone for the last couple of pages of posts.![]()

It’s made it on to Fratello.albionphoto wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:38 pm As an aside the C60 Atoll watches haven't even made it on to sites like ablogtowatch, Worn and Wound and Fratello who normally are very good about covering CW launches. Maybe tomorrow.

I find the new reef blue dial to be fun to look at (in pictures).
With other British brands getting creative in the use of color, I'm glad to see that CW is coming out with new styles of dials.

Just arrived!
Will write more later (I’m sure
), but I’ve just taken some pics to get them up here. I tried my best to capture the way it catches the light. It actually dances in the light
