A Flurry of New Members?

Post by jkbarnes »

Is it just my perception or have we seen a flurry of new members beyond what we would normally see since the release of the Bel Canto? It appears to me that almost everyday we have a handful of new members.

Maybe I’m seeing what I want to see and have simply been paying closer attention to new members since all the amazing PR about the Bel Canto?

For the newly joined members, two questions:
1. Did all the recent attention brought to CW bring you to the forum?
2. For the lurkers, how long did you lurk before coming out of the shadows?

And for the admin team, do the numbers back up what I think I’m seeing? Are we seeing increased activity compared to historic norms?

Welcome to all the new folks! We’re glad to have you!!

It wouldn’t altogether surprise me, Andrew, but I was away with just my phone over Christmas and New Year so didn’t do much in the way of mod duties. Kip might have a better idea of new registration numbers and how they stack up.

Isn’t there always a new influx about sale time, so that they get the 24 hour preview for Forum members?

Mine wasn't due to Bel Canto but I must admit that I hadn't heard of CW until last Wednesday!!! I was after a Pelagos 39 but didn't like the snobby service, 10% price rise etc and so was flicking through watch forums and came upon the Trident 300. Anyway as luck would have it I bought a black 40 mm in the sale the following day! Love it and 1/6 of the price of the Pelagos!

Also a new member here as of maybe a week or so ago. I can't actually remember how I got here. Maybe through a YouTube video. I've come across CW numerous times in the last year or so, but never gave them much attention. Once I'd taken more time to look more closely they seemed like great ppace to start a watch journey.
I will say that reading about the sale in the forum was part of my decision to sign up, and even though I've been unsuccessful full (too slow) in the sale so far. It seems like a great community here.
Just like cwjc's comment above, I am also in search of a Pelagos 39. However I've actually found most ADs to be quite friendly. I'm on a handful of lists with a couple of them saying I should expect to be able to get one within 8-12 months which I don't think is too unreasonable.
Either way I'll be sticking around here and trying to get my first CW in the near future.

Keep an eye out in the Sales Corner on the forum too! Good deals can be found there on a regular basis.

Lurker for at least a couple of years.

The Bel Canto tipped me in to getting more involved and joining. I haven't actually ordered one due to other commitments but may well do if/when they go on general release.

Hello Everyone. I have been a long time lurker in the shadows. Bought my first CW as a Christmas present to me in 2017. I have then amassed another 5 and I have a Bel Canto on order

I haven't had a watch for many years and started to get interested again a few weeks ago. CW kept coming up on Reddit (/r/Watches) as a brand with good quality and fair pricing. Turns out, the Trident and the Sealander are exactly the type of watches I was looking for. I only learned of the BC from the CW website. I was unsure about the best size for me, and the forum (and pictures) were a great help.
