A CW for my wife?

Post by jkbarnes »

Depending on the price and color selection, I’m contemplating a 36mm Sealander for my wife when they come out.

I’ve made a habit of buying her Swatches over the years. She loves them and her students love them. Since getting an Apple Watch, however, the wearing of the Swatches has tapered off.

I like the idea of sharing with her my love for the brand and fine watches by getting her one of her own. 36mm hits a size perfect for her small wrist, and the color options might be up her alley - especially if they do an orange.

Something to ponder between now and the fall.

One way to go would be the orange dial, assuming one is released. The smaller size would certainly be a winner.

Another option might be to go for a more neutral colour for the dial, but then leave options open to spice it up with a whole bunch of different straps; neutral dials go sooooooo much better with a wider variety of straps! Then she could effectively wear a different watch each day…

Just my 2p worth.

Keep well,

C

I made the mistake of taking mine to CW Towers twice. The first time she came away with a C60 Concept and the second she pre ordered the C63 Ukraine Ltd. She has now taken it upon herself to book a visit in June. So your guess is as good as mine. C65??..
Just for clarity I came away with nothing and just left a CW for service.

Well Andrew, I have a cunning plan! :)

It’s good to share.

You order a 36mm Sealander with a dial colour that you both like.

Order on a bracelet, fitted to her wrist size, add a couple of aftermarket straps that fit both of you (if she has a small wrist the CW straps will be too long). You could also order a 2nd bracelet, adjusted to fit you.

Your wife could also wear your Trident.

Watches are for sharing. Providing that you can cope with not stressing about how your partner may not be as careful as you when wearing them.

That's a great suggestion! WhileI don't know that the Coral would be to her tastes (or the C63, for that matter, if I'm being honest), something like the Charlotte just might. I definitely give the Women's line a once over in the Archives. Thanks for putting this on my radar.

You thinking parallels mine. I'm not 100% sure she'd even like the C63. It's purely the dial color that might make the difference. With the right color, it's something she might like. A neutral color dressed up with colorful bands is right up her alley, too. That's what she does with her Apple watch. She's got a bunch of brightly colored canvas straps from Barton.

Good suggestion, thanks!

I can't lie, it occurred to me after I started the thread that this might just be me subconsciously looking for an excuse to get a 36mm C63! "Here honey, I got you a watch. Do you like it? Hey, you don't mind it I wear it occasionally, do you?"

I won't give up the day job to become a comedian!

I feel we can all move on now, now that this obligatory wise-crack has now been aired. :) Think of my post as a kind of public service, if anything.

I'm hoping to do the same thing, and get one as an anniversary present for my partner! It would be a great way to share my fondness for watches with her, and I cannot think of a better place than a CW Sealander to get her started. 36mm would be the sweet spot, and hopefully there's a color that she really likes.
