2 straps but no watch
2 straps but no watch
Well I took the plunge in the sale and went for the green Aquitaine. Was very pleased to get notification from DPD that my order was to be delivered today.
Sadly...
I received 2 straps (the bracelet and a leather I ordered as well) but no watch...

No idea! Packaging seems legitimate. Says on the invoice there should be 3 items (resized bracelet, the leather and the watch itself I presume) and it says it has been quality checked.Mabeco wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:41 pmStolen?Deej wrote:Well I took the plunge in the sale and went for the green Aquitaine. I've not bought from CW before, has this happened previously? I'm hoping it is a genuine mistake and will get resolved

Re: 2 straps but no watch
How prescient of AVO to start another thread on the benefits of proper shops with a tale of an online purchase gone wrong!
Sounds like a call to CW should be the next step.

Yep I've emailed but will follow up with a call. I only opened it tonight as only got back from work at 7 - all that excitement for nowtexHowfener wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:02 pm How prescient of AVO to start another thread on the benefits of proper shops with a tale of an online purchase gone wrong!

Re: 2 straps but no watch
I sent off for two endlinks from CW last year and I only received one.
I just thought they forgot to send the other one but after contacting them and re-reading the invoice note it said two on the invoice.
One was on back order.
So I figure they dispatched the two straps but the watch they are waiting on delivery of or something.
Best to ring them up and query it.

Prescient, given the timing. A bit like the man’s Amazon dog food, someone goofed up. But you’d expect a watch company to put the watch in the box. Wouldn’t you? I guess the most sophisticated system in the world won’t compensate for human error.exHowfener wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:02 pm How prescient of AVO to start another thread on the benefits of proper shops with a tale of an online purchase gone wrong!
They’ll sort it of course. But it wouldn’t happen in a shop, which was my point.

Look on the bright side, you'll have the excitement all over again when the watch actually arrives. Let's hope it lives up to the anticipation.all that excitement for nowt

Re: 2 straps but no watch
The box is quite sizeable (not huge but hard to miss) so did you receive an outer box that was big enough for a watch box and straps or just small packaging? A call is definitely the best move.
I've had it the other way in summer where I ordered two watches on the same order, one of which had a three week back order wait. They held on to both to ship them together. Luckily I didn't mind waiting!MiniMpi wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:11 pm I sent off for two endlinks from CW last year and I only received one.

Re: 2 straps but no watch
Nope, no outer box. Just 2 smaller boxes containing the straps. Must admit, do find it bizarre the bracelet would be shipped separately to the watch
Hopefully a call at 9am will shed some light on the matter

Re: 2 straps but no watch
Watches are shipped in a large wooden watch box, about 10 inches long, 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall. weighing just under a kilo. The box is sealed with a tear off strip, so if it had been interfered with the seal would not be intact. Straps ship in a much smaller package.
Did you get a large watch box? From memory, most if not all of the watches for sale on CW show the packaging in the gallery.
Straps come in a much less substantial box, only about half an inch thick.

Re: 2 straps but no watch
No watch box at all, only the smaller cardboard boxes for the straps. The DHL packaging was only small and seemed intact so my guess is that the watch will come separately but until I hear back from customer services can't know for sure.JAFO wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 11:03 am Watches are shipped in a large wooden watch box, about 10 inches long, 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall. weighing just under a kilo. Re: 2 straps but no watch
I wonder if they are shipping you the green Aquitaine I just returned. They just received it yesterday. Maybe they are planning to send you that one after they inspect it and that's the reason for the split order?

Re: 2 straps but no watch
Managed to get somewhere with customer service. Seemed to suggest they've raised with DPD and are sending me another (maybe the one you returned, not sure)
Apparently it'll be here tomorrow. Hopefully!
