11 years ago today was my first post!

Post by RichM »

I'm not quite sure why I noticed this but today is when I made my first contribution to the forum having received a C8 as a Christmas present from my wife.... that was the day we later got engaged.

We married less than a year later when I completely unexpectedly received this from her on our wedding day

I'm a very lucky boy!

In the 11 years since I joined I've added a Dan Henry compressor and this to my small 'collection'

IMG_20210221_133931.jpg

It's made me reflect a little on all that's happened in 11 years

Married - once. She's a keeper!!
Been made redundant - once (just after we got engaged!)
Switched jobs - about 5 times!
Children - 3

And then the last 12 months!

We're lucky that we've all be well and not had any concerns about work or paying the bills. My wife's a Doctor and been *quite* busy and I've had to take unpaid leave to look after the children with the schools closed but I'm not complaining. Others have had it far worse.

I've looked at the forum I reckon everyday since I joined (that's normal, right?) and I've found it a great source of knowledge.

Who knows what the next 11 will bring!

Rich.

Congratulations Rich for your 11 years service! Great watches you have there too, that C8 has always been my favourite CW aviator model.

A surprise Bremont from your wife on your wedding day too, definitely a keeper (your wife of course, but the watch too!).

I’m coming up for 10 years in a few months – it does seem a long time.

Interestingly, I had exactly that C8 as my first CW. It was too big for me so I didn’t keep it for long.

Congratulations – keep on posting! :D

Having checked, in two weeks time I will have been here for thirteen years. In all that time I have only made 180 posts! At this rate my next will be during April. The first CW was a C1 which was quickly followed by a C5 Aviator, which I still have.

Lovely watches!

Like you and Martin, I’ve been a member for a quite a while too (11 years in July). Though my post count wouldn’t lead you to believe that.

Good luck with the home schooling and take care.

Enjoyable read thanks. Some lovely watches there too.
Whilst I haven't been here as long as some of you guys, I like to think that I make up for that with the annoyance factor!
ie: I make you feel like I've been here twice as long?

And you've been here longer than me!

It just goes to show that the forum fulfils different requirements for different people.

Thanks, I think at the time 44mm was the 'normal' size before cases started to get smaller. The 41mm of my C65 actually the perfect size for me.

Thanks Kip. I have some way to go to catch up with your post count and CW collection!

Thank you. I've no chance of correctly predicting what the next 11 will hold for me based on the last 11. More precious memories to come indeed I hope.

And thanks to all who've commented. I'm cautiously looking forward to the next 11 years.
