Re: Picture of Kingfisher quartz-movement
Blimey Hans,It looks tiny compared to the watch, i was expecting something a bit more manly looking and case filling.
It's nice that it's CW signed though

Re: Picture of Kingfisher quartz-movement
Its not bad looking as far as quartz movements go.
So many watches, so little time (and money!!!).

I'm glad this popped up, I totally missed it back then
One question, it the battery held in place by the plastic spacer?

Re: Picture of Kingfisher quartz-movement
Thanks for taking the time to post the picture Hans. What a soulless thing it is though? The plastic spacers...the wiring...the battery... give me a mechanical every day of the week.

The battery is actually held in place by the spring clips. You can see them grabbing the surface of the battery.Richard wrote:I'm glad this popped up, I totally missed it back then

The spacers are designed with the battery tab as a backup should the clips fail or the battery gets jarred loose. The idea
is that the tab would keep enough pressure between the caseback and battery to keep contact so the watch will keep running. This is more theory than a reality function though.

Re: Picture of Kingfisher quartz-movement
I noticed that the Ronda 715 in the Kingfisher has 5 jewels, as noted on the movement. You can see it in the photo from Hans. I noticed the same in my Kingfisher that was manufactured in 2008.
And I just opened my quartz C5, and its Ronda 715 has only 1 jewel. It is not engraved with the cut-out CW logo, and is a rougher finished plain metal vs. the shiny smooth gold coating.
I guess they must have different versions of this movement. The one in the kingfisher here must be "elabore" grade!!!
If it also had blued screws and perlage, would it have soul?

Re: Picture of Kingfisher quartz-movement
The Ronda 715 used in the C5Q is the standard version with 1 jewel.
The C6 movement is the Ronda Normtech 715 with 5 jewels.

Re: Picture of Kingfisher quartz-movement
Thanks Kip, I just looked up both Normtech versions of the 715 -- the 5 jewel version is designated as "Swiss Made" and the 1 jewel version is designated as "Swiss Parts." The Swiss Made is different in that it has end of life indicator. Otherwise I don't see any difference in specifications. The names imply that the "Swiss Parts" version is not assembled in a Swiss factory.
So I guess it is OK to use a "Swiss Parts" movement and still designate the whole watch as "Swiss Made."

So how do you move the tab to get to the battery?Kip wrote:The spacers are designed with the battery tab as a backup should the clips fail or the battery gets jarred loose.
