NN C1 Russell SWTR

Post by Soon2BSoylent »

Just got this today (Please excuse the crappy photos)

C1 - White Face (more cream in the flesh) - Brown Croc Strap
Height : 7.5mm
Diameter : 40mm
Strap/ Lug Width : 20mm

First impressions :
Beautiful Dial the numerals look 3D.
The proportions of everything are just right.
The hands appeared black in some photos but there actually are a deep electric blue in some lights.

Extra info about mine (make what you will) :
No serial number (although 0 then something I can't read in the handbook)
On the case back it says "13 Jewels" is this the only C1 with 3 extra jewels?
or do we think that the 10 jewel Ronda 1014 is in there (mainly because the seconds sub dial actually works)
and that this in fact has a spare case back from a C3 which has the 13 Jewel Ronda 5040.D??

You raised my curiosity with this list, so I did a bit of investigation.

First off...the C1 has never had any movement in it except the Ronda 1014.

I have a few C1's...3 prototypes and 1 production proto as well as 1 regular production model. The protypes have no markings so were of no help here. The production proto as well as the regular line model (#44) both have 13 jewels stated on the back. I honestly never noticed this before. I opened both of these models up and sure enough they contain the Ronda 1014 as they should. As to why they say 13 jewels I don't know...yet. I have asked Chris if he can remember what may have happened here and if this was for the full run or corrected later.

You have brought to light an interesting piece of trivia. Thank You. I can't believe I never noticed this.

I will also try later to compare the casebacks with a C3 to learn what I can and will report, as I will when I get a response from Chris.

Lovely watch, it would be nice if CW would do a mechanical version. :D

I think it is the same caseback - the dimensions of my pal's C1 and fixings look identical to my C3 - the only difference on the case (visually) seems to be the location holes for the chrono buttons but I havn't checked with a proper measuring tool.

Thanks, it was a super sneaky 2am jobbie, totally worth it!

I have just taken better shots and re-uploaded these at the top.

It will be very interesting to see what Chris says Kip!

Not yet, but he has been extremely busy and does owe me a couple emails. It is all in the priorities.

I'll let you know.

Newbie here.

This is a nice watch. I really like the 40mm form factor. I wish the C5 Auto came in 40mm. The C3 is nice but I'm not sure I want a chrono. Is this model still available?
