Thanks all once again. A couple of things have been bothering me which I suspect are fine and just wanted to check. The manual says about screwing in the crown, but this doesn't have a screw in crown does it? In addition, the clasp also looks very different -- mine doesn't have the bit to release which is supposed to hold it in place -- am I missing a bit or is it a different clasp? Thanks for any additional feedback, although I should probably post this in the Discuusion forum instead --sorry.

The C8 doesn't have a screw-in crown.

Can you post a picture of the clasp?

Ah,
i can answer this!

1. Screw In Crown,
The original plan was for a screw in crown, but this was dropped, but the manual wasn't modified.

2. Clasp,
The original clasp was polished and was slightly different, it was replaced by the new, improved, satin fiished one.

Thanks for the photos...

Hmm, I have a very shiny clasp... So does that mean I have an old watch ;)

With regards the clasp, it's where you move it up and down to make fit that I appear to be missing a bit. For example, if you look at page 6 of 7 in this manual http://www.christopherward.co.uk/skin/f ... MANUAL.pdf, step 6 shows a Snap Back which appears to be missing from the photos above. Seems I'm not the only one missing it, so I would assume it must be ok. Also, the manual doesn't appear to be 100% accurate anyway (i.e. the Crown) so I think it's fine.

Thanks again.

The clasp shown in the manual is an old design, as previously mentioned the watch was first delivered with a polished clasp, as shown in the manual. A lot of people complained about this on the forum and CW gave us all a replacement clasp.
This clasp was brushed steel, still not the same finish as the watch which is bead blasted. I don't know if CW is still using the brushed clasp or have finally got around to fitting a bead blasted one. Eather way I was happy with the brushed one as I now have a spare CW deployment clasp. :D

"Hmm, I have a very shiny clasp... "

From your photo it looks like you have the old style shiny clasp.

alphajet / anyone else:
Any chance of some pics of your clasps? From the "front", like, with the "CW" logo.
Mine all look shiny and are recent. Just wondering, like.

That does look like a polished clasp in the picture. Here is a link to the original thread about shiney clasps.

Mortis

You definitely have the old superseded clasp, did you buy brand new or in the seconds/returns sale?

The only difference between a polished clasp and a brushed one is a quick rub down with a fine abrasive, scotchbrite sould do it.
Or you could try an e-mail to Wera, they probably don't realise that the shiney clasps are being fitted again. It was only the people who requested the brushed clasps who got them, so that would be forum members only who bothered to request them. There must be many more C8's out there with polished clasps.
