Quite a group! I like the look of the Hamilton especially. And you know I really like that Orient Revolver. Oh, and how can I forget the CW FLE?!

"Near the End?" Me too! It must be near the end because I haven't bought a watch since a few weeks ago, just like you.
Very nice collection, each and every one. The JS is very unique, I like the look of the ash.

Great stuff Pete. I asked for the price list from JS and Sigurdur sent it by email this morning - wish i hadn't asked now. They're great looking watches and come at a premium price. lovely breitling and longines by the way.

Pete - that is great set. Got a lot of time for the Breitling (not normally my cup of tea but that looks great) and your Omegas. As for your balls........ Sweet

I guess it would be some sort of blasphemy to try these jokes in a Ball forum?nathanclarinet wrote:Pete - that is great set. Got a lot of time for the Breitling (not normally my cup of tea but that looks great) and your Omegas. As for your balls........ Sweet
Thats pretty much correct, Zenton holds top spot in the Lume stakes due to (i believe) Lum-tec Lume, the Breilting is possibly brighter than the Orient but has less surface area to put it out there so Orient is second - a 44mm case btw. Tag and Omega are on a par with each other....Hamilton takes bottom spot. Although the Balls tritium can't be seen without a decent SLR shot, the night train is easily the best watch i own for less sunnier climates......as such i wear it when i go camping or on trips to the cinema.mickarthur wrote:Absolutely stunning collection you have there. Assuming they are in the same order for the lume shot, it looks like the Zenton has the best lume? Followed maybe by the Orient? That is a BA Orient diver.
You are right of course, id consider the next step to be one of adding colour to what i have. The reason for all the black dials is not just because i prefer black but also because most of my watches were bought with a decent discount thus i couldn't be picky with colours much.Loddonite wrote:Thank you for all the pictures.
Interestingly, despite the exalted company it is keeping, it was the Seiko diver that first drew my eye. There's certainly a theme of black dials which I think leaves you plenty of scope to expand the collection into other colours
Out of all the watches only the F1 and hammi could really make room for newbies i think, the list of wants is small also:
Swap the F1 for a white dial Link
Swap the hammi for a white dial: Nomos Orion/ Breitling Aerospace/ JS watch co 101.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

They are quite pricey, if you buy whilst on holiday in Iceland you save 15% on each watch due to some government tax agreement but prices are pretty much worth it when you see them in the flesh - especially once you've talked to Sig and Gilbert; they are emmensely proud of there brand and really do put in alot of attention to detail. They are certainly an under-rated brand in the world wis communities, i'd buy another in a heart beat (would have to go back for another tour of the workshop though ).Leo David wrote:Great stuff Pete. Great collection there and amazing pics, love the detailed shots with model details. My fav's would be the Hamilton, Tag Aquaracer 500m and maybe more suprising, really like the Seiko Sportura chrono, it doesnt look like the typical Seiko's I see around.

Re: 1000th Post SOTCollection - Near The End?
Thanks Watchlover, Lots of love for the Hammi so far, the Tag 500m is my favorite watch, have no idea why. I often take it on nights out, i think its easy to wear because theirs no pressure in ruining it like the Omega's etc. The seiko is a 2011 model sportura (sapphire crystal, SEL's, alarm chrono with second time zone) - part of the 130th anniversary lines. was just inside my girlfriends budget for a present for me so i choose it over a Dreyfuss 1953 chrono and a Tissot prs-516. there are about 6 different versions of it (including a Barcelona football club LE and a very rare gold pvd cased version) Edit: make that about 9 versions now.watchlover1 wrote:Great collection there and amazing pics, love the detailed shots with model details. Congrats Pete, an excellent collection with some great pieces.
Apart from the couple of models that your collection shares with mine the pieces that stand out for me are the Ball TNT (always loved that watch) and the Icelandic J & S absolutely stunning. Would love an in-depth review with lots of pics when you have the time.
Cheers
Paul
