metal watch strap clasp C4

Post by Zero »

What I have noticed with the C4 clasp is that sometimes it lets go either one side or the other sometimes both sides and can become quite annoying.my son also had the same trouble with his C4 as he is in the armed forces and on active duty at the time he had to change the C4 to his spare Vostok which has a very secure clasp. Would it not be possible to have a choice of clasps the regular one and one more secure for people who need that bit extra security

If you search the forum it seems to be a very common issue. Basically one or more of the teeth are misaligned and are not fully clipping into their sockets. Then when you apply pressure to the bracelet they cannot hold and pop open. I sorted it myself quite easily once I realised what was happening and I have never had a problem since but if you are not too confident with the long nose pliers then I suggest you simply contact CWL for a replacement.

My sons C4 Corax is infact on its second strap which CWL changed no problem and the statement you have made makes me feel an alterative clasp would be a smart move for people who require a more reliable clasp due to their work or sporting activities.

I certainly agree it needs to be addressed because it seems to be happening quite a bit. I was able to sort mine but I should not really have to. In saying that only my first C4 had the problem and other watches released since that I have bought have not. So seeing as many of those C4's were probably manufactured a while ago it may actually now have been fixed.

It is quite easy to sort yourself but you must not be scared to apply a bit of pressure. Okay I took a chance as I may have broken mine but to me it was worth the risk because I frankly could not be bothered with the hassle of sending it back. The fix worked though because 14 months later wearing it virtually every day it has not popped open again once. I have no doubt that someday though it will because the design of these kind of clasps must be prone to eventual failure. Those teeth are so small they must wear out eventually. I can live with that though as nothing will last forever but I realise it is very much a pain when a brand new watch pops open.

Lastly if I am honest I personaly dont like this type of Push Button Deployment Buckle. I suppose it is meant to look elegant as once fastened the clasp is completely hidden but if I am honest it looks girly. Especially on an "Alpha Male" watch like the C4 or C6. It is just a personal taste but I much prefer a well made rugged Fold Over Safety Clasp. It is far more masculine looking and less prone to failure.

I agree with you entirely and ask the question do you think CWL is aware or have you heard anything that might suggest he maybe trying to resolve the issue I play sport hard and have the watch that can take it I just need the clasp that can match the watch if you follow I was thinking about getting new straps from somewere else but for now I will wait and hope CWL comes up with a more rugged clasp in the not to distant future
