Sort of like Quetzalcoatl with stubby legs and a long face?

Re: New Treads for the Tank!

A quick shot in daylight. Being grey and quite shiny it does tend to pick up the colour around it, in this case red from the car.

Re: The Twelve - New Colours?

There is a fair range already. Are you looking at 36 mm or 40 mm? Steel or titanium? Those parameters will obviously dictate your choices of colour to some extent.

Re: New Treads for the Tank!

It’s quite an expensive strap but a bit cheaper than the Cartier straps – better looking too, I think. One reason I wanted to avoid Cartier is that they won’t send you a strap these days; you have to send your watch or take it to a boutique and have the strap professionally fitted. 20 minutes at hom...

Re: New Treads for the Tank!

DavidCM Our experience was much the same. As you say, it takes a little time to set up with new leather, but it’s so adjustable and easy to wear. I was a bit apprehensive about getting a third-party strap because it’s an unusual design, but David had made these before and the specifications he sent...

@strapline Based exactly on the measurements from the original alligator. He’s got the thickness right.

Re: First new watch for almost five years.

I like that, Des. Super cool chronograph, wonderfully legible, sweet dial, great size and really stylish bund strap. Worth the five year wait, I would say. 8)

New Treads for the Tank!

I’ve been quite excited about this one for a while. I ordered it before I went away at the end of August. A grey ostrich for my Cartier Tank, courtesy of The Strap Tailor. As you can see, the two parts are identical to fit the Cartier friction deployant clasp. I will do better pictures in daylight a...

@Thegreyman And what seems bizarre is that, barring upsets of course, two from England, Argentina, Japan, Wales, Fiji and Australia will be in the semi-finals, and two from South Africa, Ireland, New Zealand and France will be going out in the quarter-final. Bonkers!

Re: Withdrawal Symptoms

I normally get the urge to buy a watch in spring for some reason, then I’m okay for a year. this year it was the Twelve Ti, and along with the C63 GMT it has taken up the whole summer. I have watches that I know I haven’t worn for months, but I’m not concerned because they will get a turn. I have a ...

Re: The Do Your Research Theme

Frankly, it’s a question of semantics. Of course they want you to buy their watches. But anyone contemplating a major purchase without doing a little delving to find out about it is a bit of a dope, frankly. Watch, car, holiday destination, new appliance, whatever it is, I try to inform myself and c...

Re: Rugby World Cup

^^^ The problem is that the draw was made in December 2020, when Ireland were ranked fifth and France seventh. They were therefore in band two of the top tier nations. Band one consisted of South Africa, New Zealand, England and Wales. Having the draw so early has drawn some criticism, naturally.
