Perchance a Yorkshire man born and bred? Would they be able to order mushy peas to share too?

Whoa, don’t go too wild there. I’m sure if they want mushy peas, they can always buy them for themselves... ;)

Presuming we are talking a VERY BIG win, then time would become irrelevant living on my own tropical island so I wouldn't need a watch at all!

A miracle would also have occurred as I never buy a lottery ticket

Too right Gary, mate! What am I? Made of money? Anyway, moot point, we don’t like mushy peas. Whilst I am from God’s own county of Yorkshire, I don’t hold with ALL the stereotypes! :?

Spookily I have one of those I am thinking of selling..... not the white gold version but a standard 1967 vintage 1675.

Not sure what price point for watches you have in mind for the bragging about their wealth stereotyping? However I imagine that the seriously wealthy don’t buy watches to brag about their wealth - the yacht and other toys would be more visible ways to indicate their wealth.

I think I would have to buy a shop as I am always buying new watches that end up in the collection hardly worn.

? The yacht / other toys aren't very visible when sat in a restaurant or going about your daily business. Evetually you have to hit dry land or get out of the flash car, then there's the diamond encrusted watches of the world to peacock your wealth.

^^^^ Well I have never quite worked out how a watch is visible when someone goes about their daily business.

In real life I have never seen a multi millionaire flaunting their wealth, or wearing a loud tasteless watch. But I have seen plenty of people wearing loud watches trying to convey they are wealthy.

As I said stereotyping.

Floyd mayweather springs immediately to mind.
There are countless YouTube videos of him flashing his diamond encrusted watch collection and bragging about the cost of each.

Plenty of watches are visible during day to day life. There's a thread dedicated to spotting CW's which aren't particularly big or flashy so to say watches aren't visible when going about your business is clearly nonsense.

You seem to of focused in on a very small portion of what I actually wrote and taken offence.

I could point out that assuming all rich people own yachts is a stereotype.

^^^^ Not taking offence at all Chris. :)

And I have never met the chap you are on about.

Perhaps I just find it strange that any watch would be visible if wearing a long sleeved shirt.

If wearing short sleeves of a T-Shirt that’s different.

It’s just that to me expensive watches are far less an indicator of someone trying too hard to demonstrate wealth than flashy cars. You may take a different view.

I remember a thread on another forum along the lines of “are your watches worth more than your car(s)?”

There did seem to be a high proportion who thought that was the case. As a watch enthusiast I thought that was normal.

And yes I do realise that very few wealthy people own a yacht.
