Shhhh..whisper it quietly...it's quartz...

Took delivery of this one today....Seiko 7548-700B from March 1979.

Slightly different this one though 8)

About 1 year ago it looked like this:

A respected and knowledgable member from 'somewhere else' bought it and documented his refurb of the watch. Basically he took it apart, cleaned years of grime and 'orribleness from in and around it. He fitted with a new case back gasket, a new bezel gasket and a NOS crown and replaced the bezel insert with an SK009 insert. Also a new AR coated sapphire crystal with frosted bevel in the correct style.
The case was refinished (and that involved some work)....the end result was/is a lovely watch. The bezel is smooth, the crown screws down as it should and it keeps excellent time. The original dial is in damn near mint condition with that fantastic creamy patina you get with age..the hands are also original and, although not quite as mint, they are certainly pretty good.

Nothing wrong with quartz. And it is good taht someone takes the time to restores these old watches to keep them. Mind you the style is very similar to the Orient you just sold Monkey.

Wow- what a lot of effort to restore a QUARTZ!!! Part of me is thinking- come on- choose a more worthy piece but then there is a bit of me that is thinking well done that man! Hmmm- do I bring untold levels of fire and brimstone on my post and say- what is the point? Or do I respect the effort to prevent something salvageable being binned? Not sure. :?

Crikey, that is some refurb job. Don't think it matters whether it is a quartz or Auto, some work has gone into that so well done that man.

Are you feeling a bit more love for this because of the restoration? 8)

Welcome to the dark side :)

It's a wonderful piece, worth saving. Seems you have a very early model of the 7548 there.
Mine say hi (including the big brother, a 7c43):
