Magrette Moana Pacific diver

Post by tartine.74 »

Here are a few pictures of my "Magrette Moana Pacific Diver", a kiwi watch from Auckland, NZ.

Some technical data :

MOVEMENT: 21 JEWELS (MIYOTA) AUTOMATIC
CASE DIAMETER: 44MM EXCLUDING THE CROWN
CASE FINISH: BRUSHED SIDES AND BACK WITH A POLISH FINISH ON THE TOP, CROWN AND BEZEL.
CROWN: SCREW DOWN
BEZEL: 120 CLICKS UNIDIRECTIONAL ROTATING
CRYSTAL: SAPPHIRE (DOUBLE DOMED), AR COATING.
WATER-RESISTANCE: 500M/1650FT WATER RESISTANT

The watch came with a black rubber band and a black/red leather strap, but I often use it with a black and yellow Maratac

Image

The black with red stiching leather strap (same colors as Louboutin shoes... :D)

The rubber band

Image

A quite ethnical engraving on the buckle

Image

and the same engraved logo on the back

Image

The bezel isn't easy to use, but has 120 clicks

Image

the brushed/polished case finish and the thick double domed sapphire crystal

To conclude, I would say it's a good watch for that price ($485.00 USD)

Quite like the look of that :D and it's a bit more unusual to see the 03... 06 & 09 hour markers!!

Nice watch. Do like their watches especially the engraved ones. One day, one day

The engraved ones are so (too much?) expensive...

Seems to be using the same case as the Benarus Moray good classic looking diver.

No more Quartz (except when I cannot resist).

Very close indeed... Lugs seem to be a little bit shorter on the Benarus.

Fit and finish is good, I have a regattare, very similar but no bezel. I recently scratched the crystal, and spotted a bit of fogging on the inside too. Emailed them regarding cost of replacing it and Dion offered to replace it free if I paid postage to them. Got it back today, new crystal and polished up nicely, took a lot of the wabi away :)
One thing though is the nights is quite quirky and the second hand can pause under certain circumstances, all in all a lovely watch though

Snap!

I got me No.13, Great watch, pity about the Lume (If you use a UV lamp you can get the dial 'batons' to glow eventually) did yours come with the petrified wood in the caseback?

Yeah got the wooden display back, I bagged no. 100, pleased to have it back, but now I have to fit it back into rotation!

The pausing of the second hand drives me nuts. It's apparently a 'feature' of the Miyota movement but it's enough to make me want to replace it. I posted a question about this in the watchmaking section but had no replies so it's probably not an easily-performed operation.
