The new arrival is on the wrist. Feeling 10 years old again. (Which is handy, considering the size of this watch.)

Interesting. How does one stack up against the other? (Movements aside - do you see a commonality in the DNA?)Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Cheers Neil.neil8fletcher3 wrote:Looks great Guy a classic watch

Re: Non CW of the Day
I've just taken delivery of the silver version, and another in on its way tomorrow or Monday. I bought them for my 11-year-old but I wasn't sure what size would fit him so I ordered a 34mm and a 32mm. I think the 34mm will be fine thoughatnits wrote:The new arrival is on the wrist. It's small, but very comfy. My other half thinks it's pathetic, but I don't care. It's the future, it's science fiction, it's cool. Re: Non CW of the Day
There is a clear similarity on the dial / hands etc., understandable as they were both designed to meet the same NASA spec, but thereafter the similarity ends as case design and treatment of the Tachy scale are quite different.smegwina wrote:Interesting. Well actually Guy... the Speedy predates the NASA bid by quite some time - 1957 to be precise, well before JFK contemplated going to the moon.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:There is a clear similarity on the dial / hands etc., understandable as they were both designed to meet the same NASA spec...
In 1957 it was considered a sports / racing chronograph, as a moon landing was the stuff of science fiction. The Bulova no doubt leveraged the look of the Speedy when it was later released, as the contemporaneous Bulova that wasn’t tested by NASA in the early sixties was a different beast altogether.
Edit: I believe the white stick hands used today were first introduced in 1962.
