Draken Peregrine

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

Just when I thought my collection was stable (for a while) something comes along!

I posted this in the Watch Brand Project thread a few weeks back;-
Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Draken Watches popped up in a post by Josh @ WIAA on Facebook last week.

Couple of interesting designs (one of them currently available on Kickstarter) from a South African gent, currently resident in New Zealand.

Not currently on the list.

. . . . . . which has come from his review of the Draken Peregrine on his website WIAA.

Proper Aviator size, for me, 44mm diameter x 14.5mm height x 52mm lug to lug and priced, on Kickstarter, starting at NZD$420/£225 (RRP NZD$700/£375) pretty good value.

Why is it that the Kiwi's produce some damn attractive watches? (I've got a Magrette MPP Kara on pre-order).

That's rather nice isn't it... The website mentioned "discreet power reserve indicator" and I had to look twice to see it. Pretty cool actually...

PR indicator is pretty unique.

Well thought out.

I like the dial and the PR indicator is a nice touch but what is of putting is how high the watch is sitting.

It's quite thick yes. The similarly styled CW C8 Pilot is only 10.1mm. I wouldn't have thought the power reserve would add that much to the movement height, but maybe it does...

Just been reading up of the Draken Peregrine a bit more and intrigued to learn that the White dial version will be full lume with the 'new' X1-C3 lume.

Looks nice n simple. The logo - is it like an opening in the dial?

Yes, it's the power reserve indicator.

I prefer the white to the black faced version, but then I don't think it looks like a proper aviator unless it's in the black...regardless a little too large for me I fear
