In the meantime thinking of this

With the way my collection has gone I would like to have my 101 back. It went to move things along (Which it did). Lovely thing...
Been thinking about putting my 101 up for sale for a while now but just can't commit to loosing it. Might test the waters soon.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

After the inability of Longines to supply the correct size Retrograde Moon phase, I have gone back to the idea of a more bespoke piece that I will have really always wanted as opposed to an itch scratch.

I have therefore been chatting with Dornbluth about one of these two.

Interestingly, they have said that they will produce a bespoke 1 off larger case for me. :)

But...... The plummeting pound has hoofed up the price, and it is hard to choose between them.

However..... spanner in the works. :( They have also said that they can get hold of one of these! It is a watch that I have always wanted, but again the exchange rate makes a big problem, and the case may be a tad large even for me.

The fact that Dornbluth will produce a one off case for me in my perfect size, suddenly makes the other models a lot more interesting!

Whilst many have an issue with them, I must admit that I don't mind the nibbled numerals. Several of my watches have them and it is not something that I notice.

What are the dials made from on these Dornbluth watches?

Some are sterling Silver, some are brass, the Gorch Fock is hand engraved matte silvered brass. (Which I assume adds hugely to the price)

The coatings are painted and/or enamelled. (I believe - I am still going through all the details they have sent!!!)

Forgot to add, that if I went with a bespoke case, it would have a bespoke dial, that whilst limited by the movement chosen (must be a version of the 99), can be customised in several ways. - eg, losing the nibbled numbers etc etc.......

Interesting choices Nick :-)
Both are very nice indeed and hard to choose between.
I'm not familiar with the brand though I have to say so I'll have to do some research today.

In an era of heroes and pioneers, he has to be up there with the best!

Brave man, stunning aircraft and a huge loss/backward step.

That is amazing. Hate to think how much it would cost to buy/service!

Stunning though.
