James80 - April 2017

Post by james80 »

Haven't done one of these since 2015 and I've had some changes so here goes:

Last SOTC: http://www.christopherwardforum.com/vie ... ilit=james

The CWs

C11 Makaira, still haven't tried the bracelet on it and also put it up for sale (locally) last month, I had some interest but it's still here. To be honest I'm not trying very hard.

C60 Trident Mk I

Image

C11 Chrono, love it, won't sell it (not that I sell anything) looks great on a NATO or leather.

The Seikos

Still dead, I should really order the capacitor

The rest

The new additions.

Very nice! You have a few not-quite-mainstream models there that are nice to see. As much as your new Sinn is lovely, my favourite would have to be your black faced Rolex Oyster. It's got class...

A lovely and unusual collection. The Rolex are timeless, the Seiko are also up there with the best of them and it is always to see an original c60 and c11 chrono.

The TAG Carrera Chrono with silver dial is different to the usual black dial on this model - nice to see one on someone's wrist.
Like the C11 Chrono also.

Great shots of a great collection! I do like the backgrounds you have used to show your watches off to best effect.

My favourites are the black Rolex and the Carrera chrono.

very nice..
The datejust and the sinn are the clear winners for me.
Although that sinn is a big beastie at 44mm how does it wear as I have seen the lug to lug is only 48 which is less than all the cw 42mm and above. may help a skinny wrister like me!
Cheers now, Paul

James80 - April 2017

Post by james80 »

Thank you guys, it's an interesting journey for sure, from watches I wanted and thankfully never bought to watches I wanted, fell out of like with and are back on the list to differing thoughts on size (an issue I thought I had sorted but has now being completely rethought due to the awesome fit of the Sinn) to impulse buys that hampered (and continue to hamper) well planned purchases to a complete rethink on quartz watches (thread coming soon) to inheriting a watch too soon.

It wears brilliantly, the size was a huge concern for me but as you mentioned the lug to lug is short and it fits very well. I have to thank Greg again for his help and advice with this, he can also attest to how well the U case wears. Let me see if I can post a head on of the C60 and one of the UX for a comparison.

Get over to Page and Cooper, you know you want to!!

I also added this watch related stuff during my last trip

Second watch box (five slots to fill!)
Two casebudi travel cases
An olloclip to bore you all with macro shots

i think the sinn U case is probably one of the more wrist-hugging case designs out there. i still haven't tried on anything else at 44mm that fits anywhere near that comfy. i doubt i'll find another 44mm to wear, i think the U1 (or UX) is an exception to the rule, not the other way around.

we definitely have some similar tastes in watches. there are a lot of interesting pieces in your collection. the UX, the datejust (a watch i'm coming to appreciate more, which worries me some as i get older... will i start wearing old man pants and acting even more curmudgeonly?), the black dialed rolex, and i'm starting to like the pogues more every time i see them.
the "g" is for Greg...
