Konketsu - January 2017
I have finally found time to unpack and set up the light tent I received for Christmas. So I took some photos of all my regularly worn watches for another yearly State of the Collection post.
This year I have grouped them roughly into a few categories or brand sub collections. Significant additions include the recent Bulova moonwatch, Sinn 104 and the one I've been looking at for a couple years, the Nomos Club Datum. Very very happy with them and really don't see any of these changing in the near future.

I am turning 40 this year and hope to add one more to the collection to celebrate, that might be this year or in the next few... depending on how the search goes. It's all about the hunt, so I am not rushing this one... and it's so very hard to pick the perfect Panerai.
Thanks for reading,
Jeff

Lovely Jeff. I love the BLNR and the Sinn, but IMO one of the nicest you have is the C9 power reserve... In theory I like the JLC, but the shape doesn't sit nicely on my wrist, so while I can admire it, I don't lust after it...

Fantastic collection, Jeff. Your Reverso is a candidate for "Watch of the Forum"!

Excellent collection. I have to agree regarding the JLC, but it is nice to see a C90 Power Reserve (Beckett's) in there.

Lovely varied collection . The Reverso is the pick of the bunch for me.
Any ideas yet on the type and style of Panerai that you might go for?

A magnificent collection! The Reverso and BLNR are the pick of the bunch for me, but there isn't a bad one there.

Super collection! I particularly like the Reverso and BLNR (Roger Federer was wearing one today when he won the Australia Open!).

Re: Konketsu - January 2017
Ah that's the $5-10k dollar question, Panerai are a curious bunch. Every watch seems almost perfect but for one or two things. I have tried on some like the 346, 312 and 320 but the 1950 case is very tall in the automatic versions. The newer 1312 is thinner, but I'm not sure about the vintage lume and blue second hand. Then there's the weight so a titanium 351 is near perfect, but how is the tobacco dial going to look on different straps.. then I wonder if I should just get an older hand wound 176 and be done with it, but I really like having a date on my watches and find the black hands boring, silver or gold would be nice to have. Of course this leads to the thinner iconic 233, dot dial or AM/PM, but that is quite a jump up in price range and older ones can have a problematic power reserve slot, sometimes they have been serviced with a new dial installed.nbg wrote:Lovely varied collection . Not to mention there are many many fake Panerai about online so buying from an AD or Canadian trusted seller is ideal. So basically I have narrowed it down to a 44mm Luminor.. preferring date and sandwich dial. A GMT function and power reserve are an expensive but nice option. A used 233, 320 or a new 1312... or maybe a 510.. ahhhhh..
Basically every day my mind changes and I need more visits to my local AD as they get in some new models.. or what pops up for sale used in Canada. There are some older 233 and 320s out there, but I am not ready to decide yet!

The Seiko "Pogue" is definitely a cool watch, more so because it is from my birth year. The original bracelet was thin and rattlely so I have it on an Uncle Seiko (eBay seller) bracelet which is much improved.golfjunky wrote:Brilliant collection. Love the JLC and space Seiko
