Maraeburn-State of the Collection 2016 - now full watch box

Post by Maraeburn »

So I just received a new watch to add to the collection which now fills my watch box. Thanks to welshlad (Steve) I've got an Omega Great White which I've been lusting after for a while, and it's gorgeous and I'm really pleased with it. For now I've put my fav Omega bracelet on it - the Bond SMP bracelet, I think it works pretty well, not sure what's better yet this or original but...

As for the watch box:

Image

Fairly Even collection now: 3 Omegas and 3 Rolexes.

1st Up is my Quartz classic Bond SMP - which has not got masses of wear recently but is a great grab and go
2nd Is the above mentioned Great White - a great compliment to the SMP I think.
3rd Is my Moonwatch - this I have dressed down with the Snoopy Omega deployant strap which I think works quite well

4th Is my Rolex OP in blue - this is a great watch and almost a "One" watch, this gets worn a lot and sort of serves as a dress watch when I need one.
5th Is my Explorer II - Love the shiny black dial on this, and the fit of the watch is sublime. This one I bought as it's the same birth year as my son, hopefully I'll be giving it to him in 21 years for his 30th birthday!
6th and by no means least is my vintage Submariner from my birth year, this watch will always stay in my collection albeit that it only really comes out on special occasions now.

So I think my watch collection covers all bases, nearly, with the clear exception being a proper dress watch although both the OP and the Vintage Rolex can serve this purpose.

Let's see how long this lasts, only 2 purchases this year, hopefully that's me done now!

A great collection there Mark, all lovely watches. The Great White looks right at home - I think you needed a white dial to provide some contrast to the others. :)

Really great collection!!! Really like all the watches but especially the OP 39mm. Looks like it could be worn all day every day. How do you find the sizing? I worry the 39mm might be a little small (I have 7 1/4 inch wrists and love the watch but wonder if it might be a little small). Again wonderful collection, you are a lucky man!!

Super collection. I'd be happy to have any of those on my wrist. Despite the lack of a dress watch I still think it's fairly balanced. Enjoy.

Lovely collection. Nicely balanced and each watch a winner in its own right. I don't see the need for a dress watch.

Congratulations!

That's a really nice set of watches there. Each one by itself is probably a grail to many people, and each is sufficiently different from the others that the collection is very nicely rounded.

An excellent collection.

The "proper dress watch" comment is interesting, as if you bought a dress watch that wasn't of comparable quality to everything else in the box would you bother to wear it anyway and perhaps if you really thought you needed one you would already have one as part of the six.

That's a great collection of watches, really nice. But have you ever fancied a change from either Rolex or Omega?
