Vintage Meylan Chronograph

Post by gaf1958 »

Not a brand I've heard of previously but now nonetheless quite a nice little watch. I have to admit I'm wondering why the 20 and 30 digits on the bezel are truncated at the top, when no others are? Interesting to note that with the Lemania movement it uses Speedmaster style scallops for the subdials. Decimal time is an interesting feature, but of no use to me, but then how often do I use a tachymetre? :)

The bezel appears to be ground off along that quadrant. Nothing else would really explain it, because the printing is not off center.

I think I can answer the tachymetre question: Once.

What a lot of sawed off triangles on that dial.

.. . . .
I'd agree with that. Also around the 1 - 2 o'clock arc.

Seems like something has regularly rubbed against the soft Aluminium of the bezel.

A stunning watch, that dial might have cleaned up nicely and matched the faded bezel better? Otherwise might aswell have put in a new bezel pip also to complete the look.
I miss all the great things that may never be.
