BWC SWISS. trans-europ.

Post by Thermexman »

I decided that I wanted a watch from the sixties, as it's the decade of my birth. I started researching all the usual, top tier, suspects but decided that my in-experience would probably leave my pocket and my ego battered and bruised so I chickened out. It's funny how you find stuff when you least expect it. I stumbled on this watch on ebay whilst looking for a different item and casually viewing the sellers other sale items. It had some reasonable photos but a minimalist description. Researching the brand on Google led me to a year old completed ebay listing from a Polish based watch dealer that appears to have sold it for $140 or $150. His description and photos were excellent! The serial number on the back showed that it was the same watch that I was looking at. I won the auction for £38 incl postage and it's mint and runs perfectly, with what looks like a BWC signed, hand winding, ETA 2391 movement within. It might not be a thoroughbred or in the same league as some brands but it gives me that sixties look that I was craving and I absolutely love it!

Yeah, sometimes I think the research and the hunt are the best part... and if you get it right, you're left with a wearable reminder of the enjoyment.
