Thank you. It's period "small" with the case being 38.5mm diameter but the bright face and, i think, the strap lift it considerably whereas a dark face would look smaller. Over the course of the day with the chrono running it has kept good time.

SeaGull ST5 19 Jewels ,export model. If looking for vintage handwound watch, look no further. Full SS case, truly charming handmade and handpainted dials (with all irregular details..mine has a paint blob on second hand. I imagine the guy in China back in 70-ies finishing his 2546th second hand in shift and going home to family) ,uniquely engraved ST5 movements (each one has unique pattern on bridges. You guessed, they were also hand engraved) and great detailing, including signed crown, embossed screwdown caseback and even antimag cover over the movement.
Why so much handmade work? It is 50$ watch? Not Patek, jeez?!
It was not the sign of mastership ...just the way they were made,it was time of China shifting from agriculture to export and industry, and most of the stuff was made with h large involvement of hand work, unlike today, with its factory cities.
Export models were crafted with more attention and better QC so if looking for something alternative to vintage Swiss made or Japanese watches...grab one. It's just matter of time before Chinese grow out of passion for western luxury stuff and start to explore their own horological history. These will soon disappear from market..

Congrats Steve. Looks like a good examples. Tiny bit of Cape cod on that bezel and it'll look amazing. I Would try that on a nice blue or green Croc strap too if you don't like natos (gold James bond if you do)STodd wrote:Finally I can join in
Got a 'birth' watch a couple of months back (with great help from dancematt) - it has been to Christian (watchguy) and arrived back today - looks great, will just take a little getting used to as it's easily the smallest watch I own...a King Seiko Hi-Beat 5621-7020 from 1972:
It's got the odd fleck on the sunburst dial, and light scratching on the case, but in general it's in good nick for a 45yo watch - and it's now clean and running like a dream
