Seiko 6119 8450: Strap Replacement

Post by ian-909 »

I have a 1970s Seiko 6119 8450 which I’d like to replace the strap on. Will any of the leather CW straps fit and if not, is there another brand of strap which is similar in quality to CW which would suit my watch?

I moved this to the Strap section so that more people would see it. Basically all you need is the inside lug measurement of your watch. I suspect it will be 18 mm or 20 mm and any standard strap that does not have curved ends should fit. There are loads of Internet sources for both proprietary and handmade straps.

Thank you for this, I’ll measure it so.

As you say you are from Dublin, a walk around the city with your watch in your pocket would be good. Any decent jewellers will have a selection of watch straps and you can see the strap against the watch.

Great idea, thanks. I’m not in Dublin this weekend but will do that when I’m back home next week.

Try Steveo straps they will make you one for the size you want. So you can use the original buckle that came with the watch if you want to. Steveo makes great quality straps at a very reasonable price. Plus you get a great service.

If this is the watch:

then I reckon, if you like a NATO strap, this would look great:

Thanks for that, just checked out the site there. The watch currently has a steel bracelet so no buckle to re-use. Haven’t had time to look for a strap for this over the last month but a Steveo strap might be what I’m looking for.

Thanks, yes it’s very like that except it has a blue dial rather than green. I’m not a nato fan so will stick to a leather strap I think.
