Removing C20 Bracelet

Post by Scrogg »

True to his word in last week's 'Chat with Chris' Mr Ward has found me a brand new black leather strap for my C20 that arrived in today's post :D 8)

So, how do I get the bracelet off? :?

It appears that a bracelet resizing tool would do the job, except the bracelet is too wide (at least for the tool I use - below) so before I cause damage to something does anyone have a better idea?

I think you need a small diameter pin punch. From memory, there's a collar in the centre and your punch needs to be small enough to pass through the collar. Been a long time though, and my memory is getting old...

Whilst not perhaps the correct way to do it:
I just pushed the pin through using the pointy end of a springbar tool that you would use on a case with drilled lugs. Once it was sticking out by about 1cm the other side I carefully pulled the pin through with small pliers, whilst trying to ensure I didn't bend the pin whilst pulling it through.......

If you bend the pin though you will need a new one to refit the bracelet.

I use a pair of pliers as a spacer to give the pin a space to move into and the handles on mine are rubber so the watch rest in a safe place and I then push the pin out using a very fine punch wrapped in a tea towel. Wife loves it. Or pop into your local and ask it cant be more than a few pounds and to save damage... Boy it's freezing here in Banstead
