Is this a genuine CW strap?
The clasp is neither the old butterfly style, nor a Bader deployant, and both the logo and Christopher Ward name just look wrong...

Re: Genuine CW?
I'm not sure and I'm sure Kip or others more qualified can answer. Logic would say though that CW straps/deployants are not inherently expensive or widely sold therefore counterfeiting would not be that profitable....just a view?

Re: Genuine CW?
The clasp look like one of my C80 although that doesn't have the full name on the inside. I can't see a market for fake CW straps so most probably genuine

Re: Genuine CW?
It looks legitimate to me. The clasp is the just older style fold over type, It may have a few years on it, but it looks unused.

Re: Genuine CW?
Interesting. However, not wishing to doubt or contradict Kip and/or Tyke I'm curious about the following;-
The top side of the clasp is similar to the one used on straps for the C8 range of 4-5 years ago, but then was fitted to a butterfly deployment.
So this deployment must be earlier than that?
However, the straps for the C8 had a rectangular section, hence the rectangular deployment, whereas the strap being sold has a curved section.
Also, I can't see and CW branding on the strap, which I thought was always there. Unless, again on early strap they were without branding.
As I say; I'm curious.

Re: Genuine CW?
Certainly doesn't look like a C8 strap even though the clasp does, so could be an aftermarket strap on a CW clasp.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Interesting. However, not wishing to doubt or contradict Kip and/or Tyke I'm curious about the following;-

Re: Genuine CW?
That looks like one of the early sample/prototype buckles, I had one the same on my Blackhawk as it came with a bright shiny silver buckle, when asking if there was any alternative Wera sent me one from 'Chris's desk'

Re: Genuine CW?
Thought a picture of a genuine CWL C8 strap, bought new in late 2012/early 2013, might help.
Note the Cw logo and 'Christopher Ward LONDON' embossed on the strap.
NB> I've taken off the original butterfly deployment and modified it for a regular buckle.

Re: Genuine CW?
Yep, I've got exactly the same as that. It came with the C3mk1 that I bought from Guy.
Mine is pretty rough and even has some machining marks visible. I'll post some pics later.
The strap it was on, was the same as the one shown as well. Dark brown alligator.
Pics later.

The watch in pics is a C3SWK Mk1, bought 2009 (paid £160 as new, good old times)
The straps: C3SXK (malvern chronograph black/chrome watch strap 20mm)

Re: Genuine CW?
My C5A Mk 1 (bought from a forum member) came with this one-sided (can't call it a butterfly) clasp on its 18mm strap.
I assume there were 20mm variants of this 1st generation CW deployant.
