to change old clasp with newer on Trident bracelet

Post by yuri9206 »

Someone know if it's possible to change the old clasp on a metal bracelet (with diver extension) with a newer clasp (with micro adjustments)? :problem:

With the old style clasp (pin adjustment), replacing the three hole divers extension style clasp with the five hole non-extension clasp requires a new end link on the bracelet - the one that mates up to the clasp. The fittings are different when the diver's extension is installed.

The new style ratcheting clasp has the same sort of end link as the five hole clasp, so it will need the clasp PLUS the bracelet link immediately adjacent to the clasp in order to fit it. I've sometimes thought of doing that, but in reality it may be easier to buy a new style bracelet and sell the old one to help recoup some of the costs...

This is the link that you need to compare to the existing one to see if they're compatible. This is the one from the ratcheting clasp. I won't be home for another 4 or 5 hours, but if I remember I'll post a pic of the extending clasp link for comparison.

Edit: as per the following post, I've deleted the incorrect pic...

I'm an idiot and I posted the wrong end of the clasp! Deleted the pic. Duh... Here are the correct photos. As can be seen, the final links are different shapes.

I think Gary's right. Just buy a new bracelet with the ratchet extention (superb to use) and sell the old bracelet.

Also, I've seen a note somewhere on CWL's website, that they will not sell buckles / deployments separately for straps. I reckon the same will be true for bracelets.

Thank you Gary and Guy!
Pictures and info are appreciated.
Problem is that there is not a C11 bracelet with new clasp... with straight end links. And I buyed an old one (discontinued) with pins adjustments for my C11 extreme.
But all is clear now. Thanks people! :D

Ahh, the fact that it's a C11 bracelet changes things a little. However, there are two ways you can go with it, although neither is particularly cheap.

The first is to buy a new bracelet and swap the clasp including the link next to the clasp.

The second is to buy a new bracelet and swap the end links (the ones that fit to the case). The end links on both are 22mm with the centre section of the link being 10mm, so they should swap over with no issues, both are held in black by a standard pin and collar. See pic below.

With both of those scenarios, I'd recommend getting the C65 bracelet as it's fully brushed and will match the C11 bracelet.

However - you could still fit the parts removed to the leftover bracelet and sell it as it will still fit the C60/C65, it just wouldn't be new any more. That would help to recover some of the costs.

But if you put a stainless steel bracelet on the C11 Extreme, with it's Titanium case, they will clash horribly as the Titanium case is noticeably darker.

Won't they?

Ok, I missed that it's an Extreme. Oops!
Agreed, the two metals will not match. But then all the C11 bracelets are stainless aren't they...

Yep, you are right about colour... but stainless steel it's the only way to put a bracelet on C11 extreme.

The last chance will be to get a C11 bracelet SS black, but do not exist!
Thanks again for all tips, all of them are very appreciates.

Aftermarket titanium bracelets are like rocking horse ****, but there are some here :

I am pondering one for my C11 Extreme and, IIRC someone on here has got / had one of these but I can't now find the post.

This is the one I think would suit the Extreme best - what puts me off is that it is not all solid links and, typically, is nearly the most expensive!!

Paul, thanks for links. The last one seems ok at a good price (too much cheap for a titanum bracelet?).
Anyway I made an experiment... Yesterday, finally, a used CW bracelet coming to me.
So, here is my C11 Extreme 1000 Titanium with a C11 brushed stainless steel bracelet.
I think that different colour is not too bad.
What you thinking about? :?
