Combat Straps - strap has now arrived
A little while ago this afternoon I sent an email to Aaron at Combat Straps to ask about the colour of one of the new leathers on his site.
Within 10 minutes he'd responded with a short video to show the colour in more detail
That's the fastest response I've ever had to an online enquiry. I've a bad feeling that this is going to get expensive, given the current abysmal exchange rate.
Still, at least the watch the strap is intended for was a bargain.

Re: Combat Straps
You tempt me, but I should wait till I get a Panerai. I don't need more straps for the Submariner.

Re: Combat Straps
Best to wait. I've been ogling his straps for well over a year but could never decide which watch to buy for, or which leather/colour combo to get.
The Pioneer lends itself to something a little out of the ordinary. The only problem is, he's suggesting an unpadded vintage look which would give a strap only 2.7mm thick. I think the Pioneer needs something a little thicker ....... The Lucca currently fitted is 6mm and padded, and balances the watch head quite well.

Re: Combat Straps
I have been ogling them for long too. Its only a matter of time.
Keep in mind that the 6mm for the Lucca is only at the highest/thickest point where it is padded, which is a small portion. The strap thins out to about 2 mm at the tail. A 2.7mm thickness throughout would be different.
What watch is the Pioneer?

Re: Combat Straps
It's the Ball which arrived a couple of days ago.
Thanks for reminding me about the padding being such a small portion of the strap. I shouldn't have needed the reminder since I'm wearing it at the moment but the excitement of maybe, finally, ordering a Combat Strap has obviously made me blind, not to mention a bit more stupid than usual

Re: Combat Straps
I bought this strap today from ClubPatina.com (they sell JPM straps and have a sale currently).
I also have a friend making me a strap from this burgundy leather.

I think they are located in EU (not sure), the shipping to USA cost me 9 dollars, maybe send them an email and ask.Winnie Bloo wrote:Great strap blowy, but looks like they only ship to the USA

Re: Combat Straps
Looking forward to seeing the burgundy leather strap
A quick update on progress so far:
After an exchange of emails with Aaron (his responses over the weekend were incredibly fast), I've ordered a strap It's going to be vintage style with minimal stitching, so completely different from the type of thing I thought I'd be ordering when I sent the first message. I was open to suggestions though, and Aaron's advice is first class. And I do like vintage style straps as long as they're untapered.
That lets out JPM but I'm off now to take a look at ClubPatina anyway

Re: Combat Straps - strap has now arrived
The strap arrived this afternoon. Aaron charges $10 for postage, so I wasn't expecting it to be sent via tracked UPS
It's absolutely perfect in fit and finish. The colour is a little darker than I expected but it goes very well with the watch so that's all that matters. It shows a lot lighter in bright sunshine - something there's a bit of a lack of here at the moment.
Anyway, here are a few pics taken in less than ideal lighting:
It's very comfortable on the wrist and smells like proper leather should so I'm very pleased.
And I have a nasty feeling there might be another one incoming shortly .....

Re: Combat Straps - strap has now arrived
Thank you gentlemen. I'm really pleased with it.
Based on this experience I'd have to recommend Aaron and Combat Straps very highly indeed. I'm trying to decide whether to ask Santa for a stingray strap .......
