Christopher Ward has called this a significant watch. The C1 Grand Malvern Power Reserve launches the new C1 range – one that is dedicated to their premium dress models and JJ complications – but also heralds a signature new case which will inform designs across the collection.
I have the wonderful opportunity to release one of the very first hands-on “real life” reviews of this watch. My video review below was indeed the first sighting of it “out in the wild”.
It costs £1550, and as it’s technically an upgrade of the C9 5-day, the watch it replaces, it’s quite good that it’s the same price.
The main features are of course CW’s in-house movement, the SH21; as well as the new case – which utilises the use of ‘light-catcher’ lines, creating a slimmer profile with multi-faceted lines. Let’s take a closer look at this latest offering.

They are lovely photos Josh. They really show off the watch well.
I'm thinking this could be the watch for my 50th.

Admittedly I am a bit biased with this watch, but an excellent review nonetheless.
One correction needed Josh... Adrian should be "Buchmann" not Bachmann.

Great review, I really like this watch, very classy, COSC accuracy and the in house movement. Definitely on my wish list.

Re: C1 Grand Malvern Power Reserve Review
I like this new GMPR a lot. It really reminds me of a Nomos, but a bit more muscular. The power reserve C is the coolest. I wonder if they could ever do one with a date function too.

C1 Grand Malvern Power Reserve Review
Good stuff Josh, some great work there. Apart from the new case design, CW have done a brilliant job with the movement finishing and decoration. The new version is streets ahead of the the old SH21. The bridge finishing is top notch, but the rotor shape is also a work of art.

Great Review Josh and the picture are lovely. I am going to save up my money and hopefully get one of these baby.
The decoration of the movement is lovely and more of it is showing so I can enjoy the ticking of the watch

Re: C1 Grand Malvern Power Reserve Review
This is a beautiful watch that mercifully doesn't have a date window!! The 12.8mm case height however, makes it too thick to be considered a dress watch. For some reason that baffles me so many watchmakers,CW included, insist on making thick watches that don't fit under a shirt cuff very well, if at all.
