Photo Blog:New CW Trident, Steinhart O1, Tudor BB, Rolex Sub

Post by PeppermintPhotoCoUk! »

G'day all

I've uploaded a 'PHOTO-BLOG' swiss watch review, where I compare the new Chr Ward Trident, the Steinhart Ocean One, the Tudor Black Bar and the Rolex Submariner.

The link is http://www.peppermintphoto.co.uk/swiss-watch-review

I hope you enjoy it. I've tried to keep it fairly brief but if anyone has any questions, feedback or comments, I'd be delighted to hear them.

In the interests of transparency - the Rolex, Steinhart and Tudor are owned by me and the CW is a 'press watch'. That said, I used to own the previous CW Trident and having reviewed the updated version, it's only a matter of time before I order the new version so for the purposes of this review, they were all treated equal.

I sought Kip's permission to post the link as I'm conscious it's my own website. It's 'not-for-profit' and there's no ads, sponsorship or monetisation involved. I'm posting this in both 'General Discussion' and 'Other Brands' as it's relevant to both CW and non CW discussion.

Please - let me know what you think, and any comments (good or bad) are appreciated.

Excellent review. I think this is the first time I have seen all 4 of these watches beside each other. It certainly makes an interesting comparison. The C60 certainly holds its own here.

Interesting that the other three are standard divers whereas the CWL is a GMT.

You mention that it is big and heavy. I am assuming that this is the 42mm version. There is a 38mm version which will suit smaller wrists.

The Rolex / Tudor / Steiny are my own, wheras the CW is a PR/Press watch so I was unable to specify the exact model beyond requesting a 'new Trident'.

And yes you're right, the 38mm would indeed be better for smaller wrists - it's a good point and I'll add a comment to the review.

Thats a good point about the 38mm version - I have updated the review to mention this.

The reason for the Trident being a GMT is because it's a Press/PR loan watch - I didn't get to specify which model beyond 'a New Trident'.

Thanks - appreciate the comment.

Yeah the decaying DS was a real shame. Also seeing old cars like the Viva just rotting away - very sad.

Great write ups. The quality of my Steinhart still amazes for the cost.

The side by side pic was a real help. I've been having a real hard time going for a watch any larger than the Submariner, but the 42mm looks great. Guess I'll have to just see what it looks like on the wrist.

Good review. Helpful to see all 4 watches next to each other.
