Building a watch winder
Re: Building a watch winder
I am very new to the forums and got drawn to this thread. Very very good.
Re: Building a watch winder
Wow. The execution (and documentation thereof) is so perfect it seems surreal. Excellent work.
Re: Building a watch winder
So you know... instructables tried to hold competition on this subject and this far & away better than any of the entries provided.

Re: Building a watch winder
I actually got inspired by this post too. I got the idea to make an Arduino watch winder and when I googled it this came up.
The OPs build is very, very impressive. I wish I had all the same tools at my disposal as the OP...
Anyway, this is my version, just finished!

Re: Building a watch winder
Just a humble suggestion - a glass case to cover your creation would complete it
Re: Building a watch winder
@28800bph Do you have the eagle files for the boards, and maybe a schematic? And possibly the sketch for the mega and the uno? I'd like to build this but with some modifications. If you have the laser cut files also, I think that I could print them out on my printer. I think that putting this in a wood box would be awesome. I'm guessing that a nema-17 motor will work.

I love how this thread resurfaces periodically. It's so great. Luc, your version is very nice indeed. Congrats on getting it built.

Re: Building a watch winder
Well, everyone needs a watch winder and when you get people who appreciate micromechanics, you will also get people who enjoy microcomputers which is now a popular diy field.
Really I just like to build crap and I need a watch winder. Seems like a double whammy. Wife will hate me for locking myself in my man cave for a few weeks to build it, but that happens anyway.
I've seen a few people with arduino based winders and we should have one of them post the build with the specs and sketches on the interwebs.

How did i miss this
As a retired Engineering Company Director, i can fully appreciate the quality of workmanship presented here.
Superb design, beautifully machined and constructed, and the electronics!!!....simply mind blowing.
You Sir are a genius, and unless you are working for an F1 team or the International Space Agency (ISA), ( and sadly not me) your talents are wasted.
Most interesting and compulsive reading for me...in a long time.
Thank you.
Mick.
