Review of the C3 Chronograph

Postby chomrich » Mon Jul 21, 2008 12:03 am

Hello all,
This is my first attempt at a review, so please excuse any unintended rambling. I have owned my black C3 for almost a month, and have just received my white one, so I thought a review should be forthcoming.
Here goes!!!
1> STYLE
It is refreshing to find a clean design that attempts to copy nothing else, yet manages a look from dressy to sporty, suit to jeans, and always fits your current mood and occasion. This is an honest watch without pretention, pretending to be nothing but itself, and everything is good. I may have preferred a steel bracelet with slightly less taper, but also appreciate how the current band "fits" the overall theme.
2> QUALITY
Both watches arrived in perfect condition, all chronograph functions work with a satisfying feel to the pushers, the screw in crowns operate smoothly, with a nice "click" when pulling out for the setting functions. all hands are correctly aligned, and the reset returns the hands to perfect alignment. There is just enough luminous material to read time clearly in the dark, but not be overbearing to the style. The steel bracelet has a nice silky feel to it and the clasp operates smoothly now after a short "break in". I would have preferred screw in links, and a screw on back, but this is personal preference, the existing setup is certainly acceptable, especially at this price point.
3> Accuracy
After almost almost a month, less than +1 sec. Enough said.
4> IMPRESSIONS
The C3 Chronograph has become my watch of favor for now, and I will alternate black and white as it suits me. From the subtle sheen of the dial to the thoughtful mixture of bright and satin, I can appreciate the efforts put into the design and build. Considering that two of these cost only slightly more than one cleaning of my old Rolex, I can certainly recommend this watch.
As I said before, this is my first review, and I appreciate your taking the time to read it, if anyone got this far. HA HA

I am guilty! I read it in full.

I'm very impressed by the accuracy from straight out of the box. All new watches take a while to settle down.

Well it seems that CWL have a very happy customer in you chomrich.

Yes I think that was a good review and well-written...I have a black C3 and find that it is a watch for most occasions, and that it is not too ostentatious but is a serious piece of watchery pleasure. It doesn't get much publicity from purchasers but it doesn't give many problems, either. A good watch...UB

To most people, it does not. Alot depends on how old the movement is from basic manufacture. The older a quartz movement is the more stable it is. When the new movement is assembled it will have to be run in to then start adjusting its accuracy. Battery voltage will have some effect and ambient temperature. In the factory, I think they set the crystal to oscilate at about 30 kHz and that would be the basic setting for the accuracy of the watch movwement. A poor crystal will drift from this setting slowly a good one will stay put. After a number of years the crystal will have settled down to a ready state of oscilation.

So ther basic answer to your question is that the whole movement needs to be 'run in'.
