Normal service now resumed - “Any questions” on R4. Judging by who is on the panel, it has the potential to wind me up more than the previous broadcast!

Listening (and watching) BBC Biggest Weekend in Belfast, BBC4. Set from the Manic Street Preachers a little disappointing especially without Nicky Wire on bass (his mum is very ill). Currently on is Beck and his set is not too shoddy He's a Danelectro fan like me...look to the right >

Re: What are you listening to right now ?
Mainly The Rolling Stones today - not surprising as I was at the London Stadium last night and back home this afternoon.
Charlie the engine as always, Ronnie the small boy in an old man's body, Keith playing as good as I've ever seen him, and Mick's voice, especially on Dead Flowers (spellbinding) and Gimme Shelter, belies his advancing years just as much as his non stop movement.
Particular highlights were the extended (very) Midnight Rambler which showed in just one song why I was witnessing yet again the greatest there has ever been or will ever be - and the duo between Mick and Sasha Allen on Gimme Shelter which was amazing.
What's more I can't recall seeing the boys so happy on stage together - they really looked as though they were loving it.
If it is to be that it was the last chance I will have to see them live then I am a contented man, happy with that as my last memory of the greatest live (or studio) band in history.

So you never got to see Springsteen in his prime then Bob?BobMunro wrote:Mainly The Rolling Stones today - not surprising as I was at the London Stadium last night and back home this afternoon.

I’ve been lucky to have seen The Boss on many occasions, Richard - he is amazing live. But the Stones, for me, set the standard for live performances.downer wrote:So you never got to see Springsteen in his prime then Bob?BobMunro wrote:Mainly The Rolling Stones today - not surprising as I was at the London Stadium last night and back home this afternoon.

Stiff Little Fingers- playing live in the car park outside the office window (it was The Selector and The Buzzcocks earlier)- just another normal day at work.
So many watches, yet still so little time!
