Happy Saint Stephens, chaps. Sorry I only have a dreary office pic today. My friend Heliopróphetes says tomorrow and Thursday look just as dismal, so it’s looking like a 3-day work stint. :(

Err, no. Stefanos is the Greek form. Stavros is derived, I believe, from the word for cross. As in Timios Stavros or Holy Cross monastery here in Cyprus.

Interesting note. In Western Christianity Saint Stephen’s day is 26th of December. In the Orthodox Church it is the 27th. As a Catholic currently holidaying in an orthodox country, I can have both. :D
