This is really difficult, because quite a few of these watches just aren't very YOU, in my opinion anyway.

I see your point, asqwerth, but my tastes have been evolving of late as I'm sure you might have observed. Small, gold, vintage dress watches – these are still important but have assumed a slightly subsidiary place in the everyday scheme of things.

I could take the Tank which would be perfect for the Captain's Table, but it wouldn't be much use in the pool and the leather strap would probably be wrecked in tropical climes. The Speedmaster would be excellent for most things, but as a chronograph with 50m WR, again useless in water.

Some, I agree, do not sit so easily with me, but some of them are undeniably perfect for the purpose.

World cruise, Yachtmaster? Sorry, I'm failing to see the connexion.

Tough assignment. Will have to ponder a bit. I have one or two candidates for the top slots though.

Am I also correct to assume that you will take one of the watches shown, but be able to utilise during the trip anything that comes as part of the package when you buy the watch new from an AD? :)

Depends what the package is, Neil. If they are chucking in a leather strap, fancy travel case, winder &c., probably not. As I explained this will be the only watch I take, it will be on the bracelet and it will rarely if ever leave my wrist.

And Bjørn, not to worry, you have 3 weeks from tomorrow.

That's a shame - it's not stuff chucked in, its what the watch comes with and why out of the list of ten it would be the one I would take (if it was 2mm smaller).

I'm on the same page, Neil. And hell, I'd take it anyway!

Thank you, Neil. I see it now but didn't read it in the same way. It would not have made a difference. :D

I am going for the following:

1 - Patek-Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-010
2 - Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm
3 - Vacheron-Constantin Overseas 4500V/110A-B128

Any of the above would fit right into your plans for the cruise - just don't wear a watch to the pool.

Why not?

All three of those are more than suitable for swimming. :)

Just submitted my entry.

Actually there were quite a few I could see Steve wearing. And some I couldn't. I hope we get your rating with comments after deadline Steve.
