Agree 100%. It's such a a shame there will be no new ones forthcoming...

Currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. A very interesting read about the woman whose unwitting contribution to science made cell culture, and the research of most chronic diseases possible.

The Keep by F. Paul Wilson, second rate novel made in to a third rate film but I'd had enough of Max Hastings and needed some light relief...

Honestly, I very rarely read 'books', but a friend who knows my interest in watches recently gave me a book on John Harrison. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read that I'd highly recommend!

"LONGITUDE, the True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time" by Dava Sobel

I think anyone who shares our interest will find it fascinating!

Just finishing up The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe. His somewhat flowery style of writing is not to my taste but the content is fascinating. Looking forward to re-watching the movie again once I finish the book.

Next up: Richard Branson's autobiography 'Losing my Virginity'.

I'm generally not a book reader, but having had it stashed in my bedside drawer for some years, I decided to make a start on 'A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush' by Eric Newby when on holiday a few weeks ago.

I've got about half way through and its really quite entertaining. What brings it into focus are several travel programmes I've seen on the TV recently along with the troubled political / terrorist / war situation in Afghanistan of recent years. No way would Eric Newby be doing his walk today.

Me

I still think "Fight Club" is a masterpiece...and probably most hyped book ever. The later stuff had some hits and misses. "Lullaby" ,"Choke" and specially "Survivor" are great novels though.

Since I work at bookshop I read..a lot. Not to good that I have kinda specific taste but still have red some unexpectedly great books.

"The Swimmer" by Zander is one of the books I was surprised by...trully a great story and a totally unexpected PAM 025 that is presented in one part of the book. Looks like the Zander had its homework done in watches.

Also Donna Tart "Goldfinch" is among the top ten of the books I have read. Along with original Dune series,Barkers "Books of blood", Simmons "Hyperion cantos" tetrology...I have always been a bit of SF/horror fan.

His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet.
A tale of multiple murder by a Scottish crofters son and the events that led to it.
Short-listed for this year's Man Booker prize. I would recommend it.
