Meant to post this the other day...

Last week, I had a Jaguar XE as a rental car.

Now, a lot of cars these days have speed limit warnings, informing the driver if they exceed the posted limit by 'reading' the signs or using sat-nav data. In most cars, those warnings take the form of flashing dashboard lights or an intrusive bing-bong noise.

Not the Jaguar. In this car, a very polite English lady mutes the music and says... "The speed limit is 120 kilometres per hour".

How quintessentially British! :D

Well yes, but there are variable limits on the autobahn, which seem to change according to some random code that I can't decipher. Anyway, after the polite lady advised me of the new limit, I pulled on the (metaphorical) handbrake and eased down below the limit - just as I passed the sign telling me the speed limit was no longer restricted...

Went to Halfords today to get a front headlamp bulb for my car, the lamp holder in my opinion is not accessible, and you tube videos etc seemed to infer the Battery would have to be moved.
Halfords quoted £8 to fit the bulb so i purchased the bulb and prepared to watch the poor soul fit it. The battery is not a simple 2 connection affair, it's got around 20 cables going to it and i couldn't see an easy way to move it. Good luck chap.
He did the bulb in a couple of minutes, with minimum fuss and zero swearing, i did have to hold some cables aside for him, but this guy was awesome.
He explained he plays piano so has very dexterous fingers.
I wanted to give him a tip but it's against the rules, so all i can do is give him positive feedback Online.

Dear new neighbours,

Although I cannot identify the piece of cr@p you are playing too loudly on that pathetic little system of yours, it sounds rather like the emasculation of cats in a thunderstorm.

But worry not, I do not really have du Pré, Barbirolli and the LSO in my house. It might just sound that way to you because, you see, I have a MUCH more powerful amplifier and MUCH more efficient speakers than you!

Sorry, what was that?

Oh, you turned it down. Good, I shall do likewise.

Which is probably a good thing as far as you are concerned, my dears, because the next thing I was about to offer you was...

...the final act of Götterdämmerung!

Just thinking how grateful i am to everyone around me who has helped me through my run-in with TB.... i started getting unwell at the end of last year, and the first half of this year has been taken up with dealing with it all - a hospital admission and a really tough time during the first 2 months of treatment... the NHS staff have been fantastic - TB medication messes with psychiatric medication and this left me desperately low for a spell - all staff, respiratory and psychiatric were in close contact to keep an eye on the situation. i didn't feel like i had my feet on the ground for most of this time, but realise now that this is because i was being carried through it...
and then there's my friends who have been rallying round to feed me up again! they've been fantastic, and i've started putting on weight again thanks to them..
all in all i'm surrounded by amazing people, and that's worth celebrating.

yay!
