Both very nice Kip! I'm sure the hands on the C5 are more legible in person. Can barely see them with those photography skills  .

The certainly are more visible. When you suck as a photographer then add in a black dial, it becomes almost impossible for me.

I accept my limitations. :(

Congratulations on two more to add to your awesome collection Kip
Thank you for doing the comparison photos which are very helpful to see the differences between the model years.

Great to see the evolution of two of the original models from CW.

For me, the C3 has improved a lot (and I like the original), whereas perhaps the C5 has lost a bit of identity along the way...

Thanks for showing, Kip, and congrats on the additions.

Congratulations on your increased inventory.

Have to say the Mk1 C3 and C5 are still the class acts of those sets

I have to say I don't like the new C5 having only alternate markers being applied ones.

The C3 is very classy.

Sorry, but that new logo just doesn't work on these ones, does it?

While admittedly I am partial to the V1 logo, I have no issues with the way this looks.

It looks much better in person. My photos do these beautiful pieces no justice whatsoever.

I think the logo looks really great, and perfectly balances the date window. I also like the applied markers being other hour as it gives the dial some style; clearly, it was done for that reason.

Kip, now that you've seen them all in person, which set do you like better: The new Malverns, or the new C65s?

It is fascinating to see them all side-by-side (thanks for doing this, Kip) and it confirms a few things that I had been thinking and a few opinions I have been forming.

1. In both cases the most attractive case is undoubtably #3. This is not only due to the shape but also to the 40mm lug gap.

2. The least attractive dial in both cases is the flat version produced for #2.

3. My personal favourite logo is on...#2! :problem:

I don't have a C5 as it overlaps with a number of other things. I have a Mk1 and a Mk3 C3. I suppose my ideal would be either of those with logo #2. Ah well, never mind...

I really like the new Malvern Chronograph MKIII, especially in that face / strap colour combination - good choice Kip. I think it's nicer looking than the old versions and much more modern looking

I don't own an original C5 (though I still fancy one), but I own the MK II Charcoal. The galvanic dial does its pretty thing with colors when you move it around. I think the original dial looks more expensive, but the galvanic dial is gorgeous. Which is better is up for debate.

As for the C3, I own both the original and MK II. I was disappointed with the inner circle being removed until I saw it in person. In reality, the circle being removed puts more emphasis on the dials which were a little obscured before, and being more of a dress watch it works well. The subdials are the same 3D dials as the original, so they look great being the center of attention. The original dial is still my favorite; though.

It seems recently that Christopher Ward have really stepped it forward with the case designs, but not so much with the dials as the original dials are still the most detailed. Hopefully these Malverns are a sign of them bringing great dials back into the lineup.

This sums it up for me. The older C3's do nothing for me and are probably one of my least favourite CW's. The Mk3 however I think is superb, particularly like the one you've acquired Kip. I said it before but I'll definitely buy a C3 this year, the C3FLE if it gets produced, or the standard one if not.
