Burnt Orange C6 Auto: New to me and freshly serviced

Post by gaf1958 »

I bought this last year and had it shipped directly to CW in Maidenhead, where it was serviced and treated to a new case for good measure. Why not, I don't plan on letting it go in a hurry... :)

It arrived in Oz today - on a Sunday! It slots in with a couple of existing orange C6 quartzes and a yellow Auto C6 LE and some yellow, blue and cream C6s.

I'll include some shots later with the others, but the burnt orange is quite a bit lighter in colour than the very rich tangerine coloured quartz, just as the yellow auto is lighter than the equivalent yellow quartz dial. The galvanic sunburst effect in the burnt orange however is an order of magnitude higher than the other models; it's absolutely mesmerising.

It's been a long time looking for one if these, so I was determined that it be as good as I could make it. Here are a couple of wrist shots, with more comparison shots to follow.

Burnt Orange C6 Auto: New to me and freshly serviced

Post by gaf1958 »

The C6s. Blue quartz, burnt orange auto, tangerine quartz, yellow auto, yellow quartz and cream (white) below.

Oh yes, I swapped the burnt orange to a suitably mint original bracelet with black PVD centre links.

Image

There’s quite a difference in colour between the tangerine and the burnt orange...

Image

...whereas the yellow auto and quartz are closer in colour, with the auto being a little paler, although it’s not evident from the photos.

Fantastic Gary. A great addition to the collection. I might have something, of a similar hue, winging it's way to me, in the not too distant future. It's not in the same league as the C6 but it fits into my collection, exactly where it's meant to!

Many Congratulations on picking up this uber rare Kingfisher Gary !! 8)
Really miss my Quartz Burnt Orange.........
You have perfectly expressed in your comparison photos of how different the two oranges are in the Kingfishers.

You're a wicked man Gary. Hoovering up all the Kingfishers and leaving none for anyone else.

Nevertheless, hearty congratulations on completing the set, or are there a couple still out there for you to get?

The difference in orange is notable with the lighter (automatic) stealing the show.

I don’t have an auto blue, nor do I own a black (any more). Don’t know if I’ll get another black or not... or a blue auto for that matter. Of course there’s Alex’s white automatic custom jobbie that would be very nice to own, but I suspect he’s not letting it out of his sight...

That looks stunning Gary and in perfect condition

It fits in well with your great collection of Kingfishers. I did once have a nice quartz orange C6...until it too headed down under, funnily enough

I heard reports of a black hole over Queensland that’s swallowing whole swathes of Kingfishers ... :|

orange is my favourite colour - my world is filled with orange. but imho it's a very difficult colour to get 'right'. this burnt orange has absolutely nailed it in my orange colour stakes, and i hope you get lots of enjoyment from it! :D

Very envious, especially as you outbid me with 10 seconds to go on this one on eBay. Enjoy Gary - my search continues and my day will come. Lovely collection.

Hey, gaf. If you ever get a chance to put a quick video up of the dial's sheen (changing colors and so forth) it'd be much appreciated. I've always loved the color but as you know there is not much media of the Kingfisher out there. Same goes for any lads with the yellow dial! :)

Lovely. 8)

Kingfisher has grown on me enormously over the last few months. And it would have to be orange. :)
