Re: Ending my association with CW
I'm glad it's gone down well. I should add the first part of the post was just a light-hearted of a dig at Tyke and co, nothing personal intended to anyone.
Whichever is the next watch to pick up a significant mark will probably get the most time, but credit to CW build quality because I've been waiting quite a while for it to happen. The Mk2 bezels are a huge step up from the Mk1s in terms of quality and damage resistance.
I must confess the 316 is yet to be worn outside of a brief try on. That's just because I want to keep the leather strap in perfect condition (sad I know) and I haven't got around to stealing the (fully brushed) bracelet off of my Trident Classic Limited Edition and putting it on the 316 yet!
The day/date was perfect for my recent holiday. I tried to switch my brain off as much as possible and probably drank more beer than I should have, so I genuinely found myself double checking which day it was now and then!
I sometimes travel for business and always wear a GMT for those trips, like in holiday mode, jetlag mode can also play havoc with my head, so the GMT is nice for double-checking the time at home without using up any grey matter!
I quite like wearing the chrono in 'dress' type situations. At 220g it's the heavyweight of the bunch (compared to the V1 titanium at 130g). I like the polished bevel on the top edges of the matte chrono case. The 316 is the only other Trident I've seen that on and it's a detail that I only really noticed when I saw them in the flesh.
I like wearing the red 5-day every 4-5 days, mainly because I get a kick out of not needing to set the time! I also like the fact that it's probably the rarest Mk2 Trident out there (prototypes aside). The accuracy is extremely good at just under +1 sec per day. If I miss day number 5 and it stops, it tends to get left in the case for a month or two. Not a clue why I do that, it's just the way it goes!
I like the titaniums when I fancy something different, but my wife's not a fan of the V2. She always says "is that the one you got from Next for £20?" when she spots it on my wrist
What's next? If I was to buy a watch from the current Trident range it would probably be a white day/date COSC. I saw the blue 316 preview while reading the Chat With Chris write up, which isn't really on my radar, but I'd probably buy a red one if that ever came to be. I'm also looking forward to seeing the new Motorsport range in the flesh and I'm following the 40mm future Trident noises with interest because my relatively small wrist tends to suit 40s over 43s.
Regarding the 'other 10', it's more like the other 30, so I need to update that figure! There are 3x DBR1s, 5x C11 divers (one of each), 2x C40s, 3x C9 Jumping Hours (I like sets!) and a bunch of others. I'll try to get a SOTC post up in the gallery later in the year.
While I have the opportunity I'd just like to say how much I like this place and say keep up the good work to Kip and the Mods.

I used to have an old-logo black 600 which had a few battle scars. That always got the most wrist time because I was less careful with it and didn't mind if it picked up any marks. I sold that to a friend in a spur of the moment transaction, so I just bought the new logo version to replace it a few weeks later. Being without my trusty black 'beater' for a few weeks made me start wearing others far more often. There's a lot more rotation these days. I probably should have left a hole for something new because I've barely worn the new 600!mabotham wrote:What's your favourite and why? Can you see any difference in quality in the different models?

Re: Ending my association with CW
Great selection, but all fairly recent models.
Have you considered getting any of the MkI Tridents and, with your smaller wrist in mind, why not a 38mm version (or two)?

I have a few Mk1s too. They don't get much wrist time at the moment. It's like they're too old to be sexy, but too young to be retro! I reckon I'll fall back in love with them in a few years time once the Mk3 arrives!
It was just the arrival of my 10th Mk2 and a few frustratingly negative threads recently which motivated me to post. I guess my point was that some long-term CW fans are happy to embrace change and progress, rather than resist it.
Regarding sizes, I've got a few 40mms from a different brand which I think my brain is just conditioned to as being 'right'. When I tried a 38mm Trident I just thought it looked a bit too small, even though it was probably fine.

Re: Ending my association with CW
What a splendid assembly!
I've found the chrono to be a step up in terms of presence and quality on the wrist - and I don't just mean the weight of it. I've always been very happy with my perception of quality in every CW I've owned previously or own now but when my chrono arrived I discovered something, another level, which I didn't know existed.
May you enjoy your collection for many years to come until the hands dissolve and the chocolate melts!

Congrats again on your momentous selection of CW's, clearly not restricted solely to Tridents

What a great collection. You done good!
I really like the Red/black 5-day COSC, Red/black GMT, 316 orange. Have you tried a rubber or leather strap with contrast stitching on the Red?Black COSc or the Red/BlackGMT or even vintage leather straps and if so can you post photos please?
Cheers.

Taking up a lot of real estate to say I really enjoyed this reply, but it is so contradictory to the atmosphere of complaint that I thought it can't hurt to see it all again.Renton wrote:
