C6 Kingfisher Mod to Auto

Hi,
Happy New Year all.

Some questions if I may:

Has anyone had a CW quartz converted to automatic?
If so, could you recommend anyone who undertakes such work?

Secondly, I broke the rubber strap on my C6. Is it possible to get a replacement? Or could someone recommend a suitable third party replacement?

Much appreciated.

gaf1958 has had a C6 auto movement/dial put into a C60 case, but I don't know of anyone who's converted a C6 quartz to a C6 Auto.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to look out for a C6 Auto for sale, buy it and then sell your C6 quartz?

As to a C6 rubber strap, IIRC, CWL have now sold out of the fitted end type; although you could always phone/email them and ask if they have one.

As to a replacement aftermarket alternative I'd sugegst either a Hirsch Performance strap from Watch Obsession or any of the Bonneto Cinturini straps from Watchgecko.

Hope that helps.

Guy

Alex (Clach77) converted a white C6 into an auto using an auto case and movement (effectively putting a white face into a C6 auto case).

I will try to,find the post for the watch. I seem to remember that the big difference was the back being thinner to take the thicker auto movement and that the back of the face was unchanged between Quartz and auto.

Thanks for the responses.

I am not fan of the C60 Trident and I don't think the Kingfisher ever existed as an auto.

Mine was the first nice watch i ever bought and I think it too beautiful not to be worn.
It got put aside cos it kept draining the battery after only a few months.

Plus I love the idea of my watch being unique to me.

I'll find a modder, I have to!

The Kingfisher did exist as an Auto, in yellow, orange and the FLE C6 in blue. As Paul says I have a white C6 dial in what was a yellow C60 Kingfisher case.

The C6 was produced as a quartz watch in black (plus T3 limited edition), white, yellow, blue and two oranges (tangerine and burnt orange).

The C6 auto was produced in yellow, burnt orange and as a forum limited edition in blue.

Here is a picture of my 6's - details below picture.

Top Row - C6 yellow auto, C6 quartz in yellow, white, blue and T3.
Middle Row - C6 quartz burnt orange, tangerine, C60 Red Jag FLE , C60 green and blue.
Bottom Row - W6 quartz red, orange, green, blue and purple

That's an outstanding collection Paul. Only one W6 for you to collect. Unless white is not 'you'. :)

If you want an automatic Kingfisher and like a yellow or orange dial, I would look for the C60 Kingfisher, Only 100 of the orange dial were made and 200 of the yellow. Only 18 have shown up for resale in the 6-7 years since introduction. (4 orange and 14 yellow). As mentioned, there is also the possibility of a 2007/2008 FLE in blue.

You can see them here.

Update:
I contacted a modder yesterday but he basically said "too difficult".
The movement likely won't fit the case and also the hands would need changed - the hands are key to my love of the watch.

I guess the answer then is to get a C60 case, change the face, get similar hands.
The dream is slipping away...woe is me.

Well in that case, it might look like this...

Yes, it's still quartz, but the look is the thing with this one.
